Villa Santa Mónica

Everything about this place felt luxurious. The staff was incrediblyyyyy helpful, the grounds were breathtaking. If you're looking at other hotels and want the best, this is it. We lounged on our terrace and at the pool and it was in the perfect location. Felt like a dream.

This property is very beautiful outside areas. It’s very historic and colonial. Nice walk to the park across the street. We really enjoyed our stay there.

In dire need of a facelift! Who gave this hotel a 4 star rating? Its barely a 3 star. Our $600 room had no wifi and no tv and, most importantly, no heating. Winter temperatures are in the low 50's during the day and low 40's at night, so a plug in heater doesn’t cut it. We were upgraded to a $800 room which had a tv. Restaurant is okay, but doesn’t do dinner. All tables are in the shade, so you need a coat on at all times, as do the waiters. The bar is depressing and always empty. The pool is a joke: a bird bath, again in total shade, and not heated, so noone goes near it. Only nice thing is the peacocks roaming the pool area. Some rooms have fireplaces, but they don't provide anything to light the wood with, so if you want a fire you have to pay someone to light it. Good location, next to a park and fairly close to the town's main square. The less said about the bathrooms the better. Probably built in the 1960's, when Dolores del Rio apparently stayed here. While the staff is generally helpful, the owners of this property obviously don't care about their customers' comfort.
