First the positives. The room was very clean, comfortable and bathroom was obviously recently refurbished. Breakfast was excellent and good value, but more on that later. Now the not so good, or could do better! The check in policy is ludicrous, I understand they need to have a designated check in time, but whilst waiting (40 minutes) I overheard the staff clearly stating that all rooms were ready for guests, but as people were entering the reception they were informed that check was not possible until 3pm and they had to wait or pay £10.00 for an early check in! The result was a packed reception and when they did commence check in, due to a “new system “ it was painfully slow! Very poor customer service. The breakfast was good value, but the attitude of the cashier guy was poor at best, probably rude if to be defined. On approaching him I was asked “ breakfast for two “ to which I replied “ no there’s only one” to which he snapped “ well I’m not to know that!” Not expected and yes rude!

Room 138 next to the main road was very noisy. But overall it was a nice hotel staff were pleasant and always helpful. Location is good for shops and beaches .Food in the pub was OK plenty of choice and good value for breakfast. Didn't have dinner but restaurant was very busy for Sunday lunch

We chose this hotel due to its central location in Scarborough and weren’t disappointed . Using an old building and adding an extension it has many rooms and a little confusing when you first arrive but soon get the hang of getting to and from the reception . The rooms have all the items you expect and ours had only just been cleaned housekeeping . The only real issue I had was that the window didn’t quite need the rubber seal when shut so we had a little noise coming in mainly seagulls ! Well you would at the seaside wouldn’t you . We decided to go for the breakfast which is served in the Brewers Faye just next door but connected to the hotel by a door using the door card given when you book in. Both continental and a full English were available and my only gripe was that they need to keep the trays topped up as a few items were not there when I went up but were for my wife . Overall I would use again if I’m visiting the slight downside was that we had to use the Palm Court car park about 3mins away across a road but if you can put up with that then give it a try.

This hotel is of great standard, 5* for cleanliness, the beds were amazingly comfortable. Staff were very welcoming, nothing was to much trouble. I will be returning with my family as we all enjoyed our trip. Great value for money spent. Amazing.

We had a perfect stay here as a family, the family room had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable and we slept fantastically. Location is spot on for everything (beach, town, castle, art gallery etc) we couldn't fault our stay and will definitely return. It was excellent value for money.
