"The lake view is unbeatable, and the design is excellent. The first three photos were taken with my phone from the lobby. Sitting by the window, enjoying a meal while admiring the lake view, was incredibly relaxing; it truly felt like a vacation, not just a quick photo op. And the food here is delicious, especially the Mosuo pastry with that wonderfully fragrant honey! The room was spacious and comfortable, and kept very clean. The counter-clockwise route they recommended was perfect for avoiding crowds. The staff (both guys and girls) were all super enthusiastic!"

"Our stay at Lugu Lake Tingxia Island B&B was fantastic! ✨ The rooms have smart toilets and the facilities are brand new. Located halfway up the mountain with lots of greenery, the owner thoughtfully reminded us about mosquitoes, sun protection, and temperature differences. They also provided earplugs and a self-service washer/dryer. In the evenings, there was a heartwarming sweet soup available. The restaurant offers authentic Mosuo specialty dishes. The service was meticulous and attentive, making our dining and stay very comfortable. It was a reassuring and pleasant trip, highly recommended!"

"The lake view room was absolutely stunning, I felt instantly uplifted the moment I walked in! Breakfast could also be enjoyed at the lakeside restaurant, offering both delicious food and beautiful scenery (the oranges at breakfast were incredibly sweet!). The hotel staff were exceptionally attentive. They waited for us at the village entrance upon arrival and enthusiastically helped us with our luggage when we left. They were also very responsive to our needs in the evenings, especially our room's housekeeper, Zhoma, who was truly wonderful!"

"Location of the hotel is perfect for anyone visiting lugu lake. Imagine waking up to the view of the lake and mountains. The hotel is also fairly new with beautiful deco and they have prepared many thoughtful things include disposable towels, disposable bath tub towel, free daily afternoon tea and a short photoshoot. The front desk staff 阿文was also very helpful. A couple of things I wished went better: - breakfast: selection was quite limited and mainly Chinese food. Was not an issue for me as I typically don’t take breakfast. - limited toilet paper: unfortunately my husband and I were down with food poisoning during the trip so the toilet paper quickly became a scarcity. - inconsistent temperature in the shower: the shower on my first night toggled between icy cold and steamy hot even without me adjusting the temperature. Overheard from other guests that they had the same issue as well. The hotel thankfully was able to fix it on my second night. - mattress was too hard, and it felt like I was sleeping directly on the floor… unfortunately the hotel didn’t have an option to add on a topper and it really affected my sleep quality during the two nights we were there. However, preference for a softer mattress is personal. Would have been nice if the hotel has toppers prepared for guests who prefer a softer bed. Overall, it was still a pleasant experience and I’d recommend for anyone visiting lugu lake."

"A perfect, super satisfying stay from start to finish! I wholeheartedly recommend this hidden luxury retreat as the top choice for anyone visiting Lugu Lake. As a Marriott design hotel, the overall quality is exceptional, blending unique Mosuo flair with a sophisticated, atmospheric touch – truly a secluded paradise. Check-in at the front desk was efficient and thoughtful, with staff who were gentle, patient, and provided meticulous service. The room hygiene was impeccable; the entire space was clean, airy, and spotless. The bedding was very comfortable, and the attention to detail in cleaning made for a truly reassuring and comfortable stay. I must particularly highlight the hotel's food! All ingredients are fresh, local, and organic. The dishes are exquisite, authentic, and taste superb – every single one was a hit, delicious and true to its origin, completely exceeding my expectations. Additionally, the hotel's amenities and experiences are top-notch! I booked the hotel's half-day tour, which included a visit to a Daba family home for an authentic Mosuo family meal (the sausage was incredibly delicious, I could eat a whole plate myself!), offering an immersive experience into the local Mosuo culture of Lugu Lake. The newly opened spa has a serene environment and professional techniques, providing both stress relief and healing. The hotel also has a professional photography team that selects excellent locations and creates a fantastic atmosphere, making every shot picture-perfect. As an extra recommendation, the hotel offers paragliding, which you can book. Ascend to the highest point overlooking Lugu Lake to take in the entire lake area. The panoramic views of the mountains and lake are breathtaking and stunning – a must-do when visiting Lugu Lake! In the evenings, there are also bonfire activities! The warm, tranquil lighting creates a relaxed and healing atmosphere, perfectly setting the mood. From the environmental design, hygiene details, and attentive service, to the delicious food, distinctive folk customs, high-altitude paragliding, and photography experience – everything was perfect. This was the most rejuvenating stay I've had at Lugu Lake, and I will definitely return on my next trip!"

"Aside from its location not being directly on Lugu Lake, this hotel is absolutely superb in terms of both its facilities and service! Gavin contacted us a day in advance to understand our needs and estimated arrival time. During our stay, he was also very helpful in resolving any issues or requests. Knowing I was traveling with my parents and that it was my father's birthday, he thoughtfully prepared toiletries for three and even added some simple decorations to the room beforehand – so considerate! We were upgraded to a garden view room and received a complimentary breakfast. Thank you, Gavin! It was the off-peak season and the weather wasn't great, so the hotel wasn't busy, but all the staff members from every department were incredibly kind! I was surprised that even though it wasn't an executive room, they still offered turn-down service and left two face masks. I didn't even get this kind of treatment in an executive room at the Hilton Dali. I must especially commend the intern, Jinhua, at the Chinese restaurant! We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. For dinner, Jinhua directly informed us about available coupons, which saved us a lot of money. She was constantly bustling about, checking if our dishes were ready. She also educated us on the differences and cultures of the Yi, Mosuo, Naxi, and Bai ethnic groups. She even told us about the hotel's rubbings experience. The next morning at breakfast, knowing we were traveling from Lugu Lake back to Lijiang, she kept checking if we had eaten enough. When she went to the kitchen to restock yogurt, she specifically detoured to our table and, seeing that we hadn't had any, offered us yogurt, encouraging us to drink it. Having traveled to many places and countries both domestically and internationally, Jinhua is the most enthusiastic and caring service staff member I have ever encountered. Even a lady from Hong Kong at the table next to us remarked on how excellent Jinhua's service was and, I heard, wrote a glowing review. Perhaps in life, it's hard to meet again, but I will forever remember encountering Jinhua, a warm and always smiling sister, during our Lugu Lake trip in 2026 at the Lugu Lake Indigo. Whether she continues to work in the mountains or ventures out, I wish her a wonderful future."
