It was the first time for a tens-year-old to rent a junk hotel. The room was small and unventilated. The bathroom and shower room were poorly equipped and the environment was extremely bad. The entrance of the room leaked, and the bathroom broke halfway through the shower. Equipment; the staff always just said that there is no one now, and they have to wait for the manager to go to work. For example, if you have reserved a room, please bring your own toiletries. The person would rather pay a little more money to go to the other side of the beach, and the small one cannot be too small;

This hotel is in desperate need of decoration, our room had paper coming of the walls, a toilet that only flushed now and again, the whole room needed a coat of paint, the bed base was really tatty but covered with a valence. The waiting staff were friendly but the food was very hit and miss. The island is beautiful and well worth the visit, but at another hotel.

We paid 270 each for 4 nites with free ferry It costs around £100 for the ferry each way. That means 42.50 per nite and for that u get Breakfast tea coffee fruit juice 3 course dinner 4 free drinks & free parking and a comfy room .. do the maths it's a bargain break food is good room is clean & tidy staff are friendly ... we going same time nxt year ...

Slightly dated hotel with the best team of staff possible. Rooms perfectly clean and comfortable with great beach views. Manager Alex and his team in the kitchen as well as Sy and Jack behind the bar were brilliant. Great value, perfect location.

Wonderful stay. Hotel clean and comfortable bed. Room serviced daily. All staff good but Waiter Mark and lady, didn't get her name, were so professional and very friendly. Entertainer every night and bingo except Monday. 4 drinks vouchers every day as travelled with Caledonian Travel. I have mobilitity issues but all my needs were met. Would definitely return.

Helpful staff food eatable room clean no problems in hotel breakfast good the only problem was location for us although right on beach shops were far closed on our free day sun was hoping to go to needles but ended up in Yarmouth 3 hours nothing for us to do there nothing to do with our hotel went with coach company

Just arrived home last week after a great holiday at Shanklin Beach Hotel. We were there for 7 days with Caledonian Travel. I wasn't really looking forward to it given some of the reviews however was pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly, Hotel was clean, food was really good and nicely presented, entertainment every night. Overlooking Shanklin Beach which is lovely and plenty going on. The only thing that let it down was the room. Room itself was fine but bathroom was tiny and you had to climb over the sink to get in and out. Room 118. Didn't spoil our holiday and would have no hesitation in returning

Come on Shankilin Beach. Its now 2009 what crap decor for what could be a lovely hotel, in a perfect spot. Furniture shabby, especially bedroom, my set of drawers was hanging by a thread and the bed blankets must have come from the war days.We are not all old age pensioners who may remember this type of bedding. I am a recent pensioner and certainly wouldnt use it. Television wasnt even tuned properly so couldnt watch it..The food was good and waiters made my holiday with their friendliness but thats about all I could say. Nick could take a lesson from them in friendliness. Thank goodness I met some lovely people travelling with David Urquart and had it not been for them would have hated staying where I was. At least we could laugh at our situation and see whos room was worst. Its a lovely hotel and could be so much better with a complete overhaull. If you need any advice on what to do with it,I suggest getting in some interior designers quick and take six months off to do it. It would be well worth the closure. But I guess all is money to you at our expense. Janette Small
