We had a lovely stay at Sea Cliff Hotel for May 1st break. This is what I liked: - buying ship ticket for May holiday was mission impossible, starting with Tickets App not accepting foreign passports. Hotel helped me with arranging the tickets both ways, even after there were no tickets online (sold out in 20 min) - they arranged a pick us up on arrival and brought us back to the pier on departure - hotel has an excellent sea view location, very silent and sea centric rooms, same for restaurant - everything is modern, I specifically liked ability to share Apple screens on TV in the room, great way to review photos and watch own movies in the evening - good breakfast 8 to 9AM, you can come 8:45 and enjoy a late breakfast as well; we also had late lunch in hotel restaurant on arrival, great food, great to seat outside, flexible working hours (not closed 14-17!), actually I liked their meals more than what we had on the main beach top restaurant, finally reception can brew you a coffee though bit hot - there is 20 min walk from the hotel for a great bay and coffee place to watch sunset, excellent experience and no need to wake up early - hotel was always online on WeChat to address any issues or questions, including how to organize a day, fantastic services! - hotel has own beach area, looks like good to swim, I will consider for summer, water is clean on the island, and this is just couple of hours from Shanghai - small drawback: fishing boats pass by from early morning, this may disturb your morning sleep ;) - other thing the bed is a bit too hard for my back, but where did you see soft beds in China? Overall: highly recommended!

We bought a train and boat ticket. Starting from Shanghai Nanpu Passenger Terminal, we took a bus for about an hour and a half to Shenjiawan Pier, and then took a high-speed ferry for about an hour and a half to Gouqi Island. It should be noted that ⚠️ the actual departure time of the bus will be earlier than the departure time on the ticket, because you have to reserve enough time on the road, so you have to go to the bus station early and wait. If you get seasick, you can go to the drugstore in advance to buy seasick patches. The smoothness of the ship is as follows: passenger roll-off (travels about 4 hours) > regular passenger ships (travels about 2 hours and 10 minutes) > high-speed passenger ships (travels about 1 and a half hours) When we arrived at Gouqi Island Pier, there were many taxis waiting for passengers. The taxi we took cost 40 yuan from the pier to our Shangdao Laideng B&B. If we could get a taxi, it would be cheaper, but we didn't. If we wanted to go fishing in the sea, he would contact the boat boss for us. We wanted to find a driver and recommended a very reliable driver to us. We caught tiger fish and small crabs in sea fishing, caught small pufferfish at the pier, went to see the sunrise at Dongya Cliff (50 yuan per person) and the sunset at the wonders of the mountains and seas, and went to Dawang Beach (charged, 25 yuan per person). Hemiaogan Beach, I bought a small shovel and dug out small crabs on the beach, and picked up beautiful shells🐚. I felt the slow pace of life here, and I was reluctant to leave. The location is also good, there are restaurants and cafes nearby, downstairs is Dawang Beach, but it is charged. This time I came to the island to fish with my friends. It happened that this homestay was not too far from several piers. The fish hotel aunt also enthusiastically helped to deal with it.
