Stapleton/Parkgate Cottages ★★★

📍 1, 2, 3, 4, High St, Carlton

"It took me a long time to find it. It's a residential house on the side of the road. However, when I went around it, I found that it was a renovated residential house, as if it had been renovated by a sub-landlord. The house had a damp smell and was very unclean. There was no air conditioning, no WiFi, and cobwebs. It was close to the road and very noisy. The overall experience was very bad. The good thing was that there was a supermarket next to it, but nothing else!"

Kings Chamber, Doncaster by Marston's Inns ★★★★

📍 Selby Rd, Thorne, Thorne

"The hotel is part of a pub chain but is located in separate building so there in no noice. Rooms are located over 2 floors but there is no lift so ask or ground floor room if stairs are a problem. Rooms are reasonable size with either double, two single beds or a double and sofa bed. The last one is best as it gives you a sofa to sit on. Rooms are basic, no fridge but does provide small kettle on a tray and hairdryer. Iron available. Large parking space and about 5 min from Thorne North station. There is also a South station but this is about 40 min walk."

"Premier Inn plus room fine. Same as others. But the attached bar/restaurant is awful. Really bad food. I won’t stay here next year."

The Abbots Boutique Hotel
9.1 (21 reviews)

The Abbots Boutique Hotel ★★★

📍 81 Micklegate, Selby

"This is a small hotel in Selby, without even a front desk. You have to check in by email in advance and then receive a code to open the door. There's no elevator either, so you have to carry your luggage upstairs to your room yourself. The room is quite large, clean, pretty, and comfortable. The window faces the main road, and the soundproofing is poor; you can hear cars whizzing by. Luckily, we're not light sleepers. Breakfast is simple, packaged food, no hot food, not even a boiled egg. Check-out time is 10 am. I emailed to request a later check-out but received no reply. Then, after the appointed time, someone came to kick us out (yes, we didn't see anyone when we checked in), and said they'd charge an extra ten pounds! They took my email address. Fortunately, I haven't received a payment reminder yet, but I'm still a little uneasy, like I'm waiting for the worst."

The Downe Arms ★★★
"Room clean and tidy with good facilities such as hair dryer, iron, board and  fridge. Would have liked a bath mat in bathroom and possibly a handle to help in bath for when having a shower. Shower head would not stay in position so had to be held. Other than that very happy with room. Window had a blind as well as a curtain keeping the room dark for a good nights sleep."

The Brewers Arms ★★★
"With little choice in Snaith the Brewers Arms was recommended to me. An expensive option I had reasonable hopes it would be good. Check in was sketchy with a young staff member who struggled with some details ie the after hours entrance via a steel staircase that was referred to but despite requests not shown. My room was dusty, dirty in places, had a wardrobe that wouldn't shut with clothes on it, the bathroom floor needed a scrub and no loo roll. Service from the bar was very slow despite low guest numbers, preferring to chat with other staff rather than deal with customers. Breakfast was basic, cereals and juice station not explained, no conversation re how was the food which was average at best. I was the only guest staying at the Brewers that night, felt like it hadn't been stayed in for a while but at £125 a night it was not anywhere near value for money. I didn't complain I just wanted to get out of there and start my journey home."

Holiday Inn LEEDS - GARFORTH by IHG ★★★★
"Nice enough hotel but with some reservations, the main entrance had work going on and was closed.the signage for the alternative entrance was poor and so difficult to get into the hotel. Once in side (I entered through the health club) there wasn’t ant directions to the reception. Once checked in, the room was decent if a bit of a trek to get to. Upon checking out, again the sign for the barrier code wasn’t easy to spot. I’m sure once all the alterations are complete the hotel will be back to the usual standards found at the average Holiday Inn."

Premier Inn Goole ★★★
"Clean rooms and friendly staff. Only one comfy chair in a double room and no coffee table meant the room did not fully function. Too few staff at breakfasts mean each self service station was missing items such a plates, bowls bread etc. This meant all customers were impatient at the stations and lost and calm atmosphere"
