After coming to this site for many years we returned at the start of the season to find the new wardens (Ann and Martin) lovely and super friendly, most of their staff were the same, ALL EXCEPT ONE. BEAR BY NAME, GRISERLY BY NATURE. A man with no customer service skills whatsoever. Rude, arrogant and certainly not the type of person who should be dealing with holiday makers who want to relax and enjoy themselves. We kept coming back, as the site is so handy for us with storing our caravan here, but we were really considering moving to another site next year. FEAR NOT, we have returned this weekend to hear that this man has now been removed from the position and is no longer on site. The beautiful site with lovely staff is now back to normal, as it was, so please don't be put off by some of the comments, it truly is a wonderful site.HE HAS GONE........SO COME AND ENJOY!!!!!

After a fantastic holiday in France this campsite looked like a great idea to stop over to visit Portsmouth. On arrival all looked great with a lady checking us in. Very pleasant and user friendly. Having meeting other members at the pot washing block it was apparent that all was not right with a warden that was not user friendly, maybe a man that should not be customer facing. Listening to other members comments I could not believe the next day when my wife and I got flagged down for speeding ! The limit is 5mph that we were doing as we had just come through the barrier. The sad warden with an attitude problem was actually travelling faster on the lawn mower!! This warden was in my opinion looking to cause problems and fall out with members. Having reviewed feedback from this site it looks like this warden is a common denominator for poor feed back. Does anyone listen to feedback in the club. The site itself is good with other staff being very nice. Some of the grass pitches are miles out of level so take care. A new system of setting up between 2 pegs works well.

The site is generally good and most of the staff are very helpful and accommodating, but beware of the warden who lives in the grey T5 . This guy is in the wrong job . After a long travel across France and a ferry journey we arrived at the site quite late and when we had got settled in the rain the office had closed by 15 minutes . We were all hungry and had ordered some food for us to collect. We asked the guy in the T5 for a fob to allow us to leave the site . He was so unhelpful and refused to give us a fob . He was intent in trying to provoke an argument . Luckily his wife who was lovely and kind eventually gave us a fob. Having read numerous other reviews this guy is a serial offender .when will the club stamp out this behaviour and deal with people like him .He clearly needs some customer service training or anger management . Other than this incident we have had 3 previous trouble free visits to this site , the rest of the staff are great .

We stayed overnight yesterday on a ferry pitch. Welcomed by our wardens who were really helpful and friendly. The site is peaceful and spotlessly clean, set in a wooded area and with plenty of space. We really recommend it and hope to come back at a later date for a proper stay.

I was here when a large family group descended and wrote the review below. The wardens were wonderful in handling a tricky very noisy argumentative group of people who had no care for anyone else but themselves. Well done to Bear and his partner for helping. The kids were throwing stones from pitches and moving the white pegs as well as kicking an Orange football around which hit a couple of motorhomes . Thank you wardens for your tireless and often thankless task of enforcing rules. Some of us worry about saying anything incase we get verbal abuse . Thank you wardens once again.

Great facilities and site . But unfortunately one particular warden named as bear is very rude , patronising has issues with children playing and is very regimental . Should not be working in a family campsite . Ruined our experience at this site and would not return or recommend to anyone especially with children . Very dissatisfied.

So very disappointed, not by the site itself but by 2 particular members of staff. I will, as I always do give a balanced review. The site itself was amazing..very clean, great facilities, big pitches, trolleys for campers to use, bins emptied regularly, toilets and showers immaculate with powerful showers and hot water. A freezer for campers to use. Washing up facilities and food vendors attending to ensure people could enjoy their holiday without the stress of cooking. The location perfect. Next to lovely woods and nice and quiet. However. I wish I had checked reviews prior to booking after our experience with 2 particular staff members. The assistant manager named bear and I believe his wife. Other reviewers have has issues in the past. From the moment we arrived there was trouble. It was obvious, being a group of 6 adults and 11 children they did not want us there, despite this site advertising as child and family friendly. We arrived in torrential rain. Trying to keep the children entertained whilst also setting up 2 caravans and a tent, bear and his wife decided it was the time to come over and lay down the rules of the site. Yes the children were excitable but they were contained and watched. Bear told my 2 year old "stop, refrain from touching those (site pegs)" she is 2! Bear then spoke down to the whole group like we were naughty school children, demanding we move cars, despite the heavy rainfall and the cars not yet being unpacked. On top of this he called my husband insecure, pointed his finger in my husbands face numerous times, did not leave when we asked him to after we have de-escalated the risen tempers. We were watched for the rest of the day. We were settled and in bed at 930pm and no further issues raised. Until..... The next morning greeted us with heavy rain and wind again. We all stayed in our own tents caravans until the sun came out around 1pm. So a nice quiet chilled morning. We reconvened at one caravan under an awning within our pitch. The older children took themselves off to the football pitches with the remaining 7 children under the age of 10 staying in the pitch area. The two 4 year olds began kicking a light peppa pig football at a distance of 2 metres away from each other (they are 4!) Within minutes bear and his wife came over. In a patronising, and aggressive tone telling us they were removing us from the site, our friends membership within the motorhome and caravan club had been suspended (they have been members for 10+ years and never had an issue like this plus they live in a caravan on a site just like this with their 3 children and never experienced anything like it). Things escalated again due to bears aggressive and patronising tone. After asking us to stop the children playing, He remained on our pitch, throwing more and more patronising comments and antagonising the members of our group. To the point where the site manager had to physically remove bear and his wife away. The site ma

Stayed as a stop over from Portsmouth Ferry back to Newcastle upon Tyne. The wardens Bear and his wife went over and beyond to help nothing was too much trouble made you feel so welcome you wanted to stay longer. The facilities were spotless as was the actual site they obviously take pride in the site. Would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend a visit.
