Serene, sophisticated, simply wonderful. You are treated like royalty by the entire staff, but not in a over the top fashion- more like a cherished member of the family. The food is over the top with a wait staff that educate as well as serve. The "activities" if you want to call them that are meditative and educational. The Mayan culture pervade every part of the hotel. (not the human sacrifice part). We had a wonderful time that we will remember forever.

We recently stayed at Etéreo and had such an incredible experience. We were upgraded to the 2-bedroom penthouse suite, and honestly, it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The interior design was absolutely stunning—everything from the natural wood to the stone details felt super high-end but still warm and relaxing. The space was huge, beautifully laid out, and perfect for our family. We had more than enough room to spread out and enjoy, and the views from the floor-to-ceiling windows were just gorgeous. What made the stay even more special was how personal everything felt. The staff knew all of our names and greeted us so warmly every day. We’d come back to our room to find sweet little gifts that felt thoughtful and customized, not just something random. It really added to the whole experience. We also have to mention Ommar—he was amazing. So warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. He made us feel so cared for throughout our stay and was a huge part of what made our experience so memorable. The beach at Etéreo is beautiful—the water is calm and great for swimming or just floating around. There’s also this walk-out deck right in front of the beach that’s kind of funny at first glance, but it actually ends up being a nice feature. You can walk out over the water, and even get in from there if you want. One thing that would make it even better is if there were a few lounge chairs or something to sit on out there—it feels like a missed opportunity for such a cool spot. A few other things that could be improved: the plunge pool on our deck looked beautiful, but since it wasn’t heated, we didn’t use it as much as we thought we would—especially in the evenings. If it had been warm or a Jacuzzi, we would’ve been in it constantly. The main pool area could use a little love too—some of the lounge chairs were ripped and showing wear. And while the food was good, the prices were definitely on the high side. The kids’ portions were also super small—our daughter, who isn’t even a big eater, had to order two kids’ meals more than once because she was still hungry. That said, we absolutely loved our time at Etéreo. The room, the setting, the thoughtful touches, the beautiful beach, and the incredible staff (especially Ommar!) made it such a special trip. We’d definitely return.

We just returned from a 3 night stay and wanted to tell you about our experience. Room: The resort and room were absolutely beautiful. Everything was in tip top shape. Nothing dilapidated or even in disrepair at all. Looked brand spanking new. We really appreciated the design style. Beautiful stone and water features. Not at all ostentatious or gaudy, but still very high end. We had a 3rd floor ocean view room (no plunge pool) and it was superb. The view was gorgeous and expansive. The entire width of the room was window, floor to ceiling. The shower (boo to the waterfall shower head) also had a side that was entirely glass out to the view (awesome until it fogged up). The bed faced the view. (Though the wall behind the bed had an huge mirror that showed you the mirror image of the view, so it was almost like you had it at the back of the room too!) Everything was supremely comfortable. The bed and then the room just had everything you wanted. Little table and couch and a few extra chairs and place to put your luggage etc. Wonderful touch that they provided a great beach bag and also sunscreen and aloe and bug spray (not needed; there were literally no bugs anywhere during our stay). Room service was A+. Don’t decline turn down service because there are delightful little touches that I won’t spoil here. Towels were plentiful (understatement). There were complimentary water bottles and a few fizzy drinks, and then wine and other items you could have at a cost. The balcony was large and had several seating areas, which was so nice. I usually don’t want to be on the balcony but this one was really, really great. I typically would opt out of getting an ocean view room but at the time I booked it was just a bit more expensive, so I tried it. Okay, get the ocean view room! It really is a wow. Or to us was. Pool: The pool area was beautiful. I don’t come to Mexico to sit at a pool, so we didn’t spend much time there. But it looked like a nice place to be. The adult pool is right below the family pool, so that could be an issue in terms of noise/ambience. Also, there did not seem to be a beach or water view from inside the adult pool or a seated position at the adult pool. But the higher family pool had it. So that wasn’t ideal. The family pool also had an infiniti edge and the adult did not, I don’t think. Even though the resort (with its 75 rooms and full occupancy while we were there) seemed not crowded at all, the pool was the only place that did seem somewhat crowded. The seats were mostly taken midday and the family pool, at least, seemed relatively full at times. It appeared to us that of the occupants of the resort, maybe 30% were families with kids. Just a guess and what it seemed. The pools were not huge and the family pool had anywhere from 2-8 kids in it when we passed by. But 8 kids plus some parents seemed plenty for that pool size. As a travel agent, I need to recommend hotels to our clients and our policy is only to do so if one of our staff has tried it out. The Etereo is a magnificent property and this is reflected in the price. We stayed there for 4 nights (4th night is free) for an average of $1,439 per night including taxes. (taking into account the free night) I have no complaints about the price since, as they say , “you get what you pay for” and hotel prices have soared since Covid. What did infuriate me is the gross overcharging for additional services. It started when I tried to book a car to and from Cancun airport to the resort and the hotel quoted me $198 each trip. I found that expensive for such a short journey and secured a ride in the same type of vehicle offered by the hotel for $68! (both trips were faultless). Next came the private excursion to the Tulum ruins and the Cenote caves. The hotel charged me $890. The guide we had happened to be independent and gave me his card. He offers the exact same trip for $350. This is bordering on theft. Yes, the hotel is entitled to make a profit but to charge 2 ½ times the actual cost…. Other examples are a glass of non descript Rose wine (not even from Provence) for $37 (including tip) and $10 for a packet of potato chips. I could go on but I will not be recommending this property to our clients without warning them to be careful what they ask the hotel to arrange as they will undoubtedly get ripped off and that charges for food and beverage are almost incredulous HOWEVER, after posting the above review the general manager of the hotel made contact with me and explained that the hotel does not make a profit on excursions and the fault lies with the company they use and that they will be taking up the issue with them. He REFUNDED THE FULL COST OF THE EXCURSION. That's what I call excellent customer service

Service is outstanding. Property is beautiful and well kept. Food delicious. Fitness center well equipped and trainer very knowledgeable. Beach is lovely. It is a smaller resort so only a few pools and restaurants but all well done! ..........

I cannot recommend Etéreo enough. What a lovely hotel that's bonus: actually family-friendly. They treated our 2.5 year old like a prince. They made sure he had everything he needed, as well as mom and dad! Our Guia, Denisse, was incredible in making our trip extra special. Make sure to carve out some time at the spa for yourself, it's magical. Don't hesitate to book your trip here. Will we absolutely be back.
