We wandered down the seafront today and thought we would have a roast. Saw that The Castle do a carvery at £12 including starter so thought we would give it a go. We hadn't booked and so were lucky to be given a table. The carvery is upstairs. The starters were either soup or the salad cart. We had the salad which was better than the Harvester! So much choice plus boiled eggs. The roast was a choice of 4 meats or veggie nutroast. There were 6 different vegetables to choose from plus roast and mash potatoes. Stuffing, yorkies and sausages. 2 gravy choices too. The food was excellent. Staff friendly especially the lady behind the till. Will definitely return and will book a table to make sure we get a seat.

Popped into the pub for some food with family we ordered four meals one cheese platter,one ham platter and two ribs and chips. The ribs and chips were cold as refrigerator cold on the bones there was no heat to them at all and then they forgot the cheese platter, When it arrived 10 minutes later it had ham on it, my wife is a vegetarian so that had to go back, told them about the ribs being cold and to forget anything else, but no one come over to apologise. Would not recommend food. The bar service was good and friendly,the food let it down for us.

The bedding was very clean and a lovely view from the window but the room itself was quite grubby, sticky floor, windows didn't close properly. The settee was peeling. The ensuite needs an overhaul. The basin plug hole was disgusting. The staircases to the room were very uninviting and access was from the back of the pub in the car park. Definitely not value for money. Breakfast is not available.
