First, but certainly not our last stay at this excellent hotel. Staying as a treat before a hospital stay, the hotel made us particularly welcome and we also enjoyed the afternoon tea which was as generous as it was tasty.
We will return as soon as we are able, the Grand will be our hotel of choice for future York stays and family events We just wish we’d ‘found’ it earlier…

Great room and great location , convenient to both York town and railway station within waking distance. Like the room design very much , the first Uk hotel that I have stayed was not fully covered my carpet which I like the design a lot .

Stayed in twin room for 2 nights. It is the perfect location in a magnificently maintained historical building. The room was impeccably clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!

Very lovely hotel. We love the building and the room and the outside view from our room. Love the coffee machine in our room. Everything feels luxurious. This is the only hotel that provides bedroom slippers throughout our UK trip.
Room with big bathroom is nice. There is a famous restaurant inside the hotel. Lucky to get a table without reservations.
Paid parking at the hotel is a bit steep. Other than that, all good.

Really no complaints, all the staff were incredibly nice, with housekeeping kindly replacing all the tea that we drank.

The Grand Hotel boasts an excellent location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. The facilities are top-notch, offering a blend of luxury and comfort that one would expect from a prestigious establishment.
However, the service fell short of expectations, especially considering its five-star rating. While it may be due to the busy tourist season, the level of service provided was inconsistent. In particular, the doormen and porters left a lot to be desired, with some interactions being notably poor. This detracted significantly from the overall experience, as such issues are not expected at a hotel of this caliber.
Overall, while the hotel's amenities and location are commendable, the service quality needs improvement to truly match the standards of a five-star hotel.
