📍 Ikenouchi 1232-1, Sumoto

"Previously, I always traveled to Japan with my child, but this time I left the baby behind and the two of us went to the love hotel we'd been wanting to book for ages. We finally got to see it for ourselves! But you definitely need to drive, because love hotels are usually located in rather remote areas. Check out the video, it's really amazing!"

Hotel New Awaji

Hotel New Awaji ★★★★

📍 20 Orodani, Sumoto

"The hotel is very large, so it has many facilities and is well maintained. The service here is relatively friendly. Even though most of the waiters don't speak English, you can still feel their enthusiasm. The biggest advantage here is the unparalleled sea view, you can see the sunrise without leaving the room."

📍 26-1, Orodani, Sumoto-Shi, Hyogo, 656-0023, Sumoto

"This guesthouse is apparently run by an elderly woman in her 80s, and I could see why it's been in business for so long. I arrived at night, but the room was already heated, clean, and showed thoughtful consideration for guests everywhere."

Awaji International Hotel the Sunplaza

Awaji International Hotel the Sunplaza ★★★★

📍 Orodani, 1279-13 淡路インターナショナルホテルザ・サンプラザ, Sumoto

"It was an old-fashioned building, and completely different from the pictures. The dinner looked luxurious, but the breakfast had no main course.... The bathroom also seemed to have not been cleaned, as dust would accumulate when you walked around the changing room."

📍 226 Goshikicho Tsushi, Sumoto

"When you come to Awaji Island, you must stay at Plum Wood House. The location is very close to the Goseki Bus Stop and it is easy to find restaurants nearby. The atmosphere of the entire B&B is very good and comfortable, and it is really worth recommending! 🥰"

"I stayed here with four friends for our graduation trip! We had a Japanese-style room, and we were able to connect a TV with a subscription service, so we all watched movies together and had a great time! 😚💕 The hot springs were amazing too! ♨️"

"The hotel has to be praised for the high quality of the buffet dinner, especially the small and exquisite desserts, and you can try more. The staff's service attitude is thoughtful and enthusiastic, and they also took the initiative to introduce us to the lobby to play stall games after dinner. The atmosphere was lively, and I won a lot of candies and a super-large Awaji Island onion with a small amount of change 😄. But I can't help but say the following incident. There are five people, my husband and I and our three daughters, and we booked a double room and a triple room respectively. The price of the triple room is obviously half of the double room, that is, we have paid for two plus three people. As soon as we arrived, we participated in the hotel's free fishing activity, but the hotel only provided two fishing rods per room, even though it was dusk and many guests had left and there were many remaining fishing rods. The argument with the staff was fruitless. The five of us had no choice but to take turns using four rods, passing them back and forth, and we couldn't catch a single fish. These staff members just gathered together to chat and did not help throughout the whole process. These service attitudes are really rare in Japan. Originally, this fishing activity was the main reason for choosing this hotel, but it felt like a very disappointing experience. 😔"

"The service was excellent, with a shuttle bus from the main station to help with luggage. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious, with a buffet breakfast and beautiful views. The private hot spring bath with sunrise views was fantastic. They also provided fishing rods and tackle. The only downside was the noise from the equipment in the room, which I think was from the air conditioner unit. Since it's a detached villa, some noise was unavoidable. The breakwater almost completely blocked out the sound of the waves, but the noise still got a bit overwhelming. Finally, I have to complain – it was the first time in my life I'd encountered someone urinating in the public bath! It really ruined the experience. I went straight back to my room for the private hot spring bath to watch the sunrise. However, it's not really the hotel's fault. The hotel is still definitely worth staying at for a couple of days."

"Since it's part of the Hotel New Awaji Group, I was glad to be able to use the large public baths at other hotels in the group. I heard that you can travel by boat or use the shuttle bus until 6:30 PM, so you can go empty-handed, and I would definitely recommend it to my friends. The customer service from the hotel staff was also excellent."

"As it's an older guesthouse, the cleanliness and facilities are undeniably commensurate with its age. However, the attention to detail and consideration for guests was evident, making for a very pleasant stay. The location is also excellent, with the sea right nearby and at the foot of the Sumoto Castle ruins."

Awaji International Hotel the Sunplaza ★★★★
"There is an additional fee for a private bath with a view, and you can only enjoy it for 45 minutes. There are three private baths, and we used one of them on a sunny day. The bath was a bit rough, but after we were done using the bath, there were two fans, but one was broken and the other was covered in dust. It was usable, but the dust was so bad that it was unusable. When we tried to use it, the dust was flying around. Dinner was also a sumptuous meal served in the room. We had sea bream rice, and if there was any left over, we made our own rice balls, wrapped them in plastic wrap, and took them home. The room overlooking the sea was comfortable, but perhaps because the sun was strong, we couldn't tell if the air conditioning was working. It would have been great if we could have used both fans and been satisfied. I would definitely stay here again. I thought breakfast would be a buffet, but it wasn't, and it was a "Treasure Box Breakfast," which had a unique atmosphere."

"We had booked a room for 3 adults 3-4 months in advance, but when we arrived, we were 2 adults and 2 children (the eldest is 13 years old, so we booked a room for 3 people, but the younger one was only 5 years old, so Other hotels or B&Bs have not charged anything for many days, but they also include breakfast and accommodation. Only this "Plum Wood House" charged us JP$8000 Yen for 2 days of breakfast and accommodation for 2 children, and we booked 3 adults. The price of the room with breakfast for 3 adults was HK$2442. We had no problem and paid JP$8000 Yen in person when we checked in. However, they did not provide breakfast for the children the next morning and told us that if we could not make the reservation, we would be refunded JP$1000 Yen after check out. But in the end We didn’t cancel. Most of their rooms are also on 1/F, including us (it seems like the landlord is the only one downstairs). However, the shower rooms and toilets are in the underground G/F, and they only provide 1 room, 1 hour of shower use once a day, and Reservations need to be made 12 hours or more in advance (we made reservations after check-in and breakfast). It is very inconvenient to use. You have to go down the stairs every time, and the Japanese-style bed pillows need to be opened and packed away by yourself. Main attractions and beaches also need to be It takes half an hour or more to drive, so it is not recommended to stay here."

"I stayed there without meals included! I only needed a place to sleep, but I was very satisfied because I could use the large public bath in the main building, which was just a short walk away, for free, and I could also go for a run along the coast in the morning!"
