I was afraid of the crowds during the May Day holiday, so I chose Qiongkushitai for this trip. Even on May Day, there were not many tourists here, and I stayed at the Rensheng B&B. This travel experience in Qiongkushitai will become a precious memory of my life. Share your feelings from the perspective of hardware, scenery, and experience
Facilities: The first impression of staying at the hotel is that the hardware facilities are top-notch. After all, it is a village that can only be entered by crossing three mountains from Tekes. In fact, the supply of materials is very scarce, and some homestays may not have enough water and electricity. Later, after communicating with the store manager and the owners, I learned that this homestay has its own water, solar energy + diesel generator power generation, and a boiler burning fuel to supply heating, so it feels safe to stay there. From electricity, heating, water supply to linens, everything is very detailed.
Environment: This B&B is located in a valley, with a grassland at the door. When you open the curtains in the morning, you can see the snow-capped mountains opposite. There are also birds visiting in the early morning, which makes you feel very happy.
Service: In terms of transportation, you can contact the store manager when you arrive in Yining, and the store manager will help you contact the round-trip bus from Yining to the village. As for food, the breakfast is quite rich and you will feel full after eating it. You can order lunch and dinner from the B&B, or go to the village to find something to eat by yourself. You can also go to the herdsmen’s home to experience the local herdsmen’s meals. I tried the horse meat and horse intestines braised noodles (the Kazakhs have a unique name for it, but I forgot). It was also interesting to chat with local herders and learn about Kazakh culture while eating.
The most important travel experience: The first thing to do is horseback riding. When the weather is good, we go out horseback riding every day. There are routes such as the Wusun Ancient Road, Alpine Lake, and Winter Pasture. Each route has different scenery and different experiences. If you live somewhere else and want to ride a horse, you need to go to the horse team registration office at the back mountain entrance. Similar to a cruise ship, you will be randomly matched with a horse, and then the herdsman will lead or take you along the route.
I chose this B&B for horse riding based on two reasons. The first is the freedom of riding. I can learn how to ride in the grassland in front of the house before going on the route. His B&B will help us connect with the herders' horses, and try to ensure the quality and character of the horses. Last time when we were about to set off on the route, I saw their boss telling a herder that horses with unstable personalities must not be used, and then we must replace them with horses that are easy to control before we set off.
The second point is that during holidays, young people from local herdsmen’s families will return to the village for horse riding lessons. The Kazakh teenagers can teach in Chinese, which makes the experience better.
When I checked in, I saw some Kazakh teenagers racing horses, it was so cool!
If the weather is good at night, there will be a bonfire party. People from all over the world will sit around the fire, warm themselves, think about life, or watch Kazakh boys and girls dance.
If you can't ride a horse when it rains, you can pick mushrooms (unfortunately I didn't get to experience that) or move around freely in their yurt. Groups of three or five can play cards in the yurt.
If the weather is good, you can see the Milky Way around 4 am
All in all, this trip to Qiongkushitai was an unexpected gain in life. It made me discover that Xinjiang can be played in this way. I am grateful for the wonderful experience of staying in this homestay and for this healing journey to Qiongkushitai.
