Arrived on Easter Tuesday for a relaxing one night stay and clay ritual treatment with my mother. The stay was to be relaxing and a chance for us to prep ahead of a family wedding we had the next day at a different location. It was anything but relaxing. Reception greeting felt rushed and very rehearsed. We weren’t welcomed to the resort, there was no small talk made (the way it has been on previous occasions) staff appeared young and inexperienced in customer relations. We picked up on this straight away. Room wasn’t quite ready which is fair enough, as check in was 3pm. Clay ritual was already pre booked and we were informed of the time via voicemail days prior. This was whether we wanted it at the specified time or not. There didn’t appear to be an option to change the time. I can only assume was for the convenience of another. Pleasant treatment for mother and I to engage in together. On leaving the treatment room, was overwhelmed by the copious amount of people that was vacating the facilities. I couldn’t visibly see any space to enjoy in peace. Relaxation room with two heated loungers, with one lounger occupied by a couple who seemed to be getting intimate with one another in broad daylight. Was quite distasteful to say the least and the cackling around the hot tub area was echoing in the distance. Felt cheap and rank, chaotic and a free for all. Certainly not what we had ever experienced nor anticipated. Staff was one bar person. I didn’t see any staff glass picking or attending to the pool areas. Needless to say we felt like there was “no room in the inn” and so didn’t return to the spa area for the remainder of our stay. Room was ready but only because we enquired. When enquiring was asked by reception to take a seat as she was in the middle of something for which I declined and advised if I sat down someone else would take the place. Only 2 members of staff at the reception during check in to assist with residents checking in, public spa users asking for assistance, as you can imagine paints a chaotic picture. We were not shown to our room, given one key card and instructed where to locate the room. This was up 2 flights of stairs with no lift available. Not a great start. The room was extremely cramped. My mother had a head cold and when she went to take a tissue from the box found only 1 measley tissue was pushed into the box (for decoration)??!! The “so called” curtains were hanging off the wall with Velcro tape? Gave the impression of something found on a ship wreck, but maybe that’s fashion? Cheap and not very cheerful initial first impression. Phoned reception from the room, asking if manager could get in touch. Manager came to our assistance. Apologised and tried to help encourage us to continue our stay. We were moved to a slighter more spacious room and if we needed anything further to let her know. Dyson hairdryer was broken. I rang reception, reception took the message and we waited over 1 hr and 30
