We had an unforgettable stay with Yakuma Eco Lodge. Beautiful project in cooperation with the community in the surroundings. Great fresh food 3 times a day. Nice rooms. Skilled guides that organize nice activities like jungle walks, tubing, bird watching, piranha fishing, a visit to a village. It is located beautifully in a remote place and can only be reached by canoes (about 20 min. from the nearest road). If you consider a stay in the jungle of Ecuador, we really recommend this lodge and project.

Very special! The lodge can only be reached by boat. The guides are local and know everything about the jungle. Unique experience. We went on safari by night to spot nocturnal animals. Our guide captured a coral snake for us in his boot. The next day, early morning, 6am, we went to spot parrots. Good local food, just what the jungle offers, and very sweet and nice people.

I can warmly recommend a trip to the Yacuma Ecolodge. My partner and I are from Germany, speak little Spanish, primarily English, so we were accompanied by Monica as a translator and Eduardo, who picked us up in Quito during the day and drove us back. The four of us spent five days and four nights together in the Amazon. The entire crew on site makes an incredible effort. The lodges are stunningly beautiful. We had a great guide, Rolando, who showed us many things, such as piranha fishing, what can be eaten in the jungle, healing herbs, animal tracks, we made cocoa ourselves, visited a family at home and ate worms (of course, voluntary for everyone), and were able to observe birds. Every day there was very delicious food. Personally, I would prefer more traditional food. The crew tries in any case to cater to the tourists from predominantly Western cultures. It is good if tourists bring enough insect repellent and some sunscreen; the crew on site has everything else. I am incredibly grateful to have learned more about the life of the Kichwa community and wish everyone the best.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Yacuma Ecolodge. We stayed four nights and five days. We were looking for an immersive jungle experience at a lodge that values conservation and community partnership and that is exactly what we found at Yacuma. We saw an amazing variety of birds, bugs and plants and were in awe of the sacred Ceibo tree. The schedule was a great balance of activities, natural and cultural, with time for relaxing and meals as well. We learned so much from Rolando…he was amazing! The whole staff was kind and attentive and the food was fantastic!

The sun began to set as we motored down the Napo River. Nearing the lodge, bats darted ahead of our boat as darkness increased. During our short adventure, we would enjoy good meals, comfortable beds (with mosquito netting), and enduring hospitality. At Yacuma, solar power is utilized for lighting and to provide hot showers. There’s even wifi. Nevertheless, had we not come with a deep curiosity, an overnight stay may have been too long. Instead, even after three nights, we wondered what else could have encountered beyond the intriguing birds, rainforest secrets, and Indigenous ways revealed to us by local guides Fausto and Rolando.

We loved our visit to Yacuma! If you are interested in visiting an EcoLodge here are some reasons you should choose Yacuma too: - the location is incredible: the lodge is part of a 300 hectare preserve. Every morning you wake to the sounds of the rainforest, and your stay helps to preserve the land and support the indigenous Kichwa community. The electricity is generated by solar, the soap is biodegradable, and in the 27 years since its inception not a single tree has been cut from the preserve! - The itinerary strikes the perfect balance: we spent time learning about medicinal plants, searching for animals in the night, learning about the Kichwa community, seeing SO MANY birds, but despite the many things to do our time here still felt relaxing. - The staff is excellent: the guides are incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. They were able to identify every single bird and plant we asked about and then some! The rest of the staff is so friendly, and we wanted for nothing the whole time! - The food was the best we’ve had in Ecuador so far! - The accommodations are beautiful and comfortable We are sad to leave this place, and I truly cannot recommend it more highly.

Our experience at Yacuma Ecolodge was amazing. We love wildlife and adventure. Staying at the Bungalows is nice and comfortable. The typical cuisine is a plus. It's really interesting to get close to indigenous communities and learn about their cultures and life style. Definitely we recomend Yacuma.
