Our disappointment was immediate; the lobby and the hallways and the elevator smelled (the elevator also had a sticky floor). Our room wasn't as odoriferous, but it gave the impression that it had simply been Fabrezed to death. The toilet paper holder was broken (wouldn't hold the roll); the toilet seat was loose and sliding around; the handle in the sink was virtually impossible to engage; the handle was missing on the drawer of the nightstand; the drapes did not close all the way, so that one had to resign oneself to either people outside getting a peepshow or waking up with the sun at 5:30am (or both). My wife opted to rig a clothes hanger to keep them moderately closed. The "hot continental breakfast was quite pathetic: cold cereal, waffles, apples, yogurt with artificial sweetener only, and coffee (no decaf). In other words, a million little things. We came back at the end of the day to find the room unmade (including waste baskets overflowing). And all this for the bargain hotel-located-50-miles-from-that-weekends-NASCAR-race price of $252.49. (Second night was 'only' $104.00; still way over-priced.) Given a choice, I'll opt to sleep in my car next time.
