Traveled with Partner and our 2 year old for 6 nights in Jan 2025, We have stayed at at least 60 campsites in NZ over the last 10 years, and this one is right up there. I would ignore any feedback regarding the owners or facilities. Our experience was only good and if you find them to have different views to you I would just go with it and enjoy your holiday we are all different! The location and views and established tree lined pitches are what you are paying for, we stayed in the Patiki side of the camp, the Kanuka's that line the pitches are so nice to camp around and they offer patches of shade at various parts of the day so you can put the tent up in just the right spot. Regarding the facilities, I see a few reviews about things being basic... I suggest these people stay in a hotel in town for 350$+++ a night, as far as camping goes, facilities are all adequate and clean unsure what else people expect when camping. Bins emptied frequently, water is even potable right out of the tap (and these are plentiful) We wanted to stay an extra night, no issue and camp office handled it all quickly with a smile. If you want to be in a great location, on the lake, with access to great cycling and walking I would struggle to understand anyone who wouldn't want to stay here! We like to try new places so may not be back next year but will absolutely stay here again no questions asked!!
