We booked a one night stay in the Arc Pod for my Husband’s Birthday. Unfortunately when we arrived we ended up staying less than an hour and booked another hotel. Although this place had potential it was dirty! Clearly the maintenance and cleanliness has slipped as we read some previous good reviews. The day before we left I had an email to say we didn’t need to check in with anyone as the accommodation would be left open! It was with the key on the side. Maybe a key box with a code would be a better alternative. The whole place was dated and unclean. The curtains were mouldy, there was black mould in the bathroom. It was full of dust everywhere. The hot tub lid was damaged and no proper step to use, just a plastic alternative. The whole place showed a proper lack of care. This is not a cheap one night getaway so we ended up getting a full refund. The host was accommodating with that and explained they had a housekeeping change. I hope they get this sorted as with a proper clean up and care, it could make a nice little escape. Unfortunately we won’t be returning to this place!

I stayed in the arc pod last weekend with my partner. We booked on Airbnb as the place looked really well done up and looked like it would be a lovely place to relax for a weekend. However, on our arrival we found that the extras paid for by my partner were not given, I spoke to the owner on the morning we left as no one else was there all weekend and she said she would refund us for this and still hasn’t a week later. The pod was very untidy and not clean at all. There were lots of cobwebs behind furniture and on the front door and windows - I understand that we were in a woodland so you will get cobwebs outside however, they were old and had been there a long time therefore we couldn’t open the windows as we didn’t want to be sleeping with bugs. The windows and blinds were mouldy and clearly very old, this is disgusting and as my partner struggles with asthma it wasn’t great for his health or anyone’s who had stayed or is staying. I feel that the arc pod wasn’t fully equipped as there was only one toilet roll and only one towel each, normally one towel each would be ok but as there was a hot tub we were using wet towels to dry with after showers. We checked everywhere on arrival and found other people’s belongings in the draws clearly showing that the place wasn’t tidied or cleaned. The toilet seat was also broken showing no one checked it. We felt there was no proper shower mat and no door on the shower so water went everywhere when showering. On Airbnb it stated that there was toiletries and a welcome pack on arrival, there was no welcome pack at all and the toiletries were very minimal. On Airbnb it also stated there was furniture in and out, the inside furniture was ok however felt old and worn - like second hand. We also found a spider in the bed. The outdoor furniture was minimal, rusty and covered in cobwebs so couldn’t use it. Overall, the location was lovely and has amazing potential so it’s a shame about the lack of care that has been given to the area considering the price we paid. We then felt we overpaid for what we were given and how many problems we found. I do also think the mould situation should be looked into properly as it can be a serious health problem to everyone. The owners don’t show much care into the place as we have called twice and emailed three times to share our complaints with them before sharing on here and there haven’t replied and quickly rushed us off the phone. This feels unprofessional to me and will not be going back here.

We booked a 3 night stay in Kingfisher Lodge. Once we moved in we noticed the lodge wasn’t very clean. Quite a lot of dust, we found a beer bottle top in the hot tub and with left cigarette ends. The mattresses were very uncomfortable and my son resorted to sleeping on the sofa cushions. I contacted the site mgr who offered to come back in and ‘do a proper clean’ but you only get one chance to make a first impression. I then contacted the head office and told them of our concerns…his reaction was ‘well we’ve not had complaints before’, now seeing the reviews on here they clearly have and despite saying they want feedback they haven’t done anything about it. We paid £169/night for want was sold as luxury lodges..if dust, dirty pans, fag ends and uncomfortable beds is luxury then these guys could be in trouble from trading standards.

We stayed in July for four days in Otter 3. The cabin was great, very spacious for 2 people though a little dark. Facilities excellent with a new kitchen and compact bathroom. Partner spent a lot of time fishing in main pond and with more success in the smaller pond. Staff friendly though we didnt use the restaurant the menu looked very inviting. We did get some Chinese food delivered from the local takeaway which was delicious. We made the most of the location and visited Warminster, Stonehenge, Old Sarum, Salisbury, Caen locks, Avebury and the White Horse of Westbury. Great walks near the site.

We have just stayed in Kingfisher Lodge at Hunters Moon in Lower Marsh Road, Warminster. We went for the fishing and there are three lakes, but we stayed by the top lake and the fishing was good - the lake is shallow but had good fighting carp up to about 6lbs. The site is lovely and clean and the hosts in the clubhouse are very friendly and welcoming. We ate in the clubhouse one evening and had a very good meal with attentive service. The Kingfisher Lodge was fairly new and was beautifully clean and well presented with almost everything you could ask for on this type of self-catering holiday. The beds were comfortable, the shower room was clean with a good size shower cubicle and warmed by a heated towel rail. TV was provided in the open plan lounge/diner/kitchen and you can get free-view channels. We only have one criticism and that was that the two sofas were the most uncomfortable chairs we have sat on and I ended up sitting in the fishing chair to watch TV as it was more comfortable. They look nice but the backs are so upright, the seats so short you just perch on the seat, and they are hard! Despite this I would recommend this site - I did not see inside any of the older cabins/lodges - and even if you do not go to fish it is good for walks and as a base to see local attractions.

We have just returned from a lovely four night break at Hunters Moon, staying in Otter 1 Lodge - one of the two person cabins. It was clean, comfy and very suitable for our needs. You do need to take a few pound coins, especially if staying in the winter for the heating, but the cabin warmed up quickly and maintained its temperature. The kitchen provisions are basic - if you are planning on cooking a full sunday meal then take some of your own utensils. The area is a bit soggy underfoot, so wellies are a good idea, and it is not amazingly well lit, so maybe a torch. But each cabin has a car parking space, so unpacking was easy. The most fun bit was the ducks - they come up to the cabin to be hand fed! The staff were helpful and friendly. It is a short walk to Warminster, and an easy drive to Bath, Salisbury and Bristol. We will be returning :)

We stayed here again after visiting many before but this was our 1st visit in the snow&what fun&romantic weekend it was.We took our beloved pup Bailey with us who had so much fun in the snow we had a job keeping him indoors.Owners&staff at bar/restaurant were exceptionally friendly&helpful as always. If you get a chance to go to their race night at their pub you must go,its a real good laugh&all for charity.Lovely walks out&about, very peaceful&relaxing.Lodges very comfortable&cosy but plenty of room&fully equipped, perfect any time of year.Plenty of shops, pubs&local attractions nearby, cant wait to go back,if you go say a big HI to Sandy&Nick the owners x x x

Beautiful surroundings and a great owner. We had the lake on our doorstep which meant a 12 year old could fish from morning until night - what more could he ask for ?! Not an expert on fishing but for him it was all he wanted and the carp were in abundance (commons 3 - 6 lbs and some baby mirrors ) along with rudd, roach and bream. Lodge was basic but all you probably need if you are using it as a base for fishing and the location and surroundings make up for a lot. Local tackle shop in Warminster ( closed Wednesdays ), Morrisons supermarket just up the road and Longleat 10 mins away - well worth a visit. We will go back

Certainly rustic and relaxing Beaver Lodge nice size for us as a couple but did have room with bunks in another bedroom . layout was great for us . Well set out Fishing lakes and the owners made you feel very welcome. Electric coin meter can get bit hungry if you like your heaters on full we visited in November and few nights got cold but still a bargain stay and well recommended. If bringing children the surrounding wildlife and ducks will keep them smiling . Has onsite there is a club house was warm and welcoming didn’t eat there but food looked good.
