"The location of the hotel is perfectly beautiful and conveniently close to public transport. This includes the boats which go on various trips on the lake. Service in the hotel was very good and I would especially like to mention Kenny at reception who was happy to go the extra mile. The food was good and a wonderful breakfast buffet is served. The coffee was good, croissants and bread fresh, a wonderful selection of good quality jam, simply excellent. For those who wanted, there was even smoked salmon and on certain days, a glass of bubbly!! Would also like to mention the two ladies who run “breakfast” and keep things clean and fresh. Thank you."

"The scenic Lakeside Hotel in Lucerne is very quiet and pleasant, and can be reached by ferry from the ferry terminal next to Lucerne train station. Sara at the front desk was very welcoming and kind; she even helped me find my lost power bank, for which I am very grateful."

"Quiet, immaculate, and blissful simplicity makes this hotel a perfect place to stay when visiting the quaint and beautiful village of Weggis. The staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful. The comfortable pillows and beds offer a good night's sleep after a full day of sightseeing and hopping on and off the ferry and train. Breakfast was fabulous - an assortment of bread, fresh cheeses, yogurt selection, an assortment of well-selected meat, fresh and roasted vegetables, fresh fruit juices, and good coffee. We will surely use them again when visiting the area in the future! Highly recommended!"

"My husband and I have recently returned from an 11 night stay at the Hotel Gerbi. We travelled with Inghams and booked a superior room overlooking the lake. We chose the hotel because of the leisure facilities and booked this hotel rather than the sister hotel, the Alexander, because the Gerbi's rooms are larger and we liked the more traditional look of the hotel. The room was certainly large (although somewhat spartan) and had a nice view of the lake so nothing to complain about there. The location of the hotel turned out not to be ideal for us. As we had no car, we ended up walking about 20 minutes most days to get to the bus stop or the boat station. Some guests used the hotel minibus to get to and from the village centre each day but we didn't feel comfortable about using the minibus as a taxi service so instead walked or occasionally took the free local bus which stopped hourly outside the hotel. As we didn't use the hotel's leisure facilities as often as we had planned, we would have been better off staying at a hotel closer to the village centre. Our main disappointment with the hotel was that we never felt truly welcome or valued. The mood seemed rather sombre and we did not experience the hospitality we would have liked from a family-owned hotel. The couple who I think were the owners seemed rather world-weary. We ate breakfast in the main restaurant or on the terrace but dinner was always taken in a more modern restaurant, the 'Gerberei' or its terrace. I think guests on half-board ate there while a la carte guests were in the main restaurant. Sometimes the Gerberei was very quiet but it was also sometimes used additionally for groups or families so could be rather raucous. Meals were often not very quiet or romantic and sometimes the service was slow. We had the impression that a la carte guests were favoured while those on half-board just had to wait. The offering at breakfast was good and the evening meals were fine but not always to our liking (particularly the vegetables). However, as there were 4 courses we never went to bed hungry. The soups were particularly tasty. All in all, the hotel was a little underwhelming and our holiday a little disappointing but, of course, this is entirely subjective and I'm sure other guests will be perfectly happy at the Gerbi."
