Courtyard Wichita at Old Town

I almost didn’t stay here based on the reviews, I’m glad I did stay here. Free parking is available in a city lot about a block away, or pay to park at hotel. I’d say equal in terms of security. Once again my mobile key didn’t work, but the front desk staff was friendly and took care of it. Keep in mind at this time other than their pantry there is no F&B service at this property. I had a huge king room. It overlooked the street the hotel is on, a busy street that runs through Old Town. The room was quiet and comfortable. In terms of Covid clean, this was a Courtyard PUR Clean room that would have benefited by some wipes being left for the remote etc.

We have stayed here several times, and always receive friendly service. The queen room was smaller than the rooms we’ve stayed in with a king or 2 queens, but we don’t need that much room. It took us a little while to figure out how to switch from air to heat. I like that they have bottles for hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The bar area is nice with happy hour specials. The chicken wings and cheese cake were good. When we left the parking garage & submitted our validated ticket, it was rejected, but this was quickly resolved.

Just checked in to this older-style home-away-from-home hotel, and WE LOVE IT! Check in was easy with a very nice receptionist. Our room (213) is perfect - spacious and comfortable. Beautiful setting. All looks wonderful. I’ll update this review at the end of the day, but since there have been quite a few negative reviews, I wanted to say that we just checked in, and are excited and happy to be here.
TownePlace Suites Wichita East

I don’t usually write reviews as I usually let minor inconveniences slide. We travel about 40-50% of the year, and this was by far the worst hotel I have stayed at in a very long time. It was so bad that I canceled a reservation at another TownePlace Suites for the next week in a different city- never again. Staying at a newly built Hilton brand instead. There was what looked like black mold growing on the bathroom wall, near the tub (photo attached). On the other end of the tub you could see where they have already patched a similar issue, so management should have been aware of it. There is a serious water problem going on behind the walls. The floor outside of the bathroom flexed when we walked and the whole room shook with each step. The flooring would flex with each step and vibrate down the hall. The bathtub would creak and flex when we stood in it to shower. (We are athletic, not overweight people). If it hadn’t been 100+ degrees we would have left. By the second morning the nose/throat irritation was awful. There was fuzzy mold growing on the surface of the bathroom fan (photo attached), which apparently didn’t work (but maybe there was a central exhaust fan system, so it might be that none of the bathroom fans are effective in the hotel). After showering the bathroom mirror was completely covered in condensation, so the vent was definitely not venting. In a properly vented bathroom that shouldn’t happen. The door was also warped at the bottom so that it made a grinding noise upon closing and would not fully close and latch, even though it looked shut. That’s a security issue to be aware of. The walls are very thin. There were kids yelling in the courtyard at 11pm one night, waking us up. At 4 am one morning there were kids yelling in the hallway and knocking on random doors (probably the ones with the dog signs on the door, hoping to get a bark. Fun. Luckily my dog takes her cues from me and didn’t take the bait), and left a bunch of trash in the hallway. For the 3 days we were there one room had left a bag of trash (or several l bags by the end of our stay) in the hallway. It just sat there all day long, everyday. It was there when we checked in, and it was a bigger pile when we checked out.

This place is awful. I mean, it's a Comfort Inn not a roadside motel in Tijuana so what is going on here? The shower had no water pressure whatsoever, the room had a weirdly humid air about it despite our constantly running a/c, the hallway carpeting is abysmally dirty, the elevator glass and floor are dirty (it's impossible to see through the glass), the grout in the tub is in desperate need of replacement and is terribly mildewed, all of the doors, trim and floors are marred, shabby and filthy throughout the hotel, the breakfast area ceiling tiles have water damage and are dirty and gross, and most disturbing of all is the air and heat vent there which is absolutely black with mold! I have actually contacted the Health Department about it. This is not just unsightly but hazardous to anyone and especially for those with breathing issues or asthma. Comfort Inn should be capable of much better and ought to be ashamed to call this one of theirs.
Holiday Inn Wichita East I-35

Booked a room for myself and two young children for 2 nights in February 2022. Requested a room on the highest floor and extra pillows as guest preferences-received neither. Requested these in advance as I knew we would utilize the sofa bed. Sofa bed had broken wood sticking out of the bottom and the mattress wouldn’t unfold flatly. Day 1- hotel pool was overcrowded and kids were throwing misc items throughout the pool area so you couldn’t even be in the pool room without having to watch your head from things flying around. Told the front desk, they said they would follow up and agreed that wasn’t appropriate, 30 minutes later, still occurring. Day 2- room toilet stopped flushing. Called and visited the front desk, was told maintenance had a lot of rooms to take care of so it would likely be a while. Asked about changing rooms and was told none were available. Emailed the contact email on the IHG app about changing rooms due to not having a bathroom available, still no response as of today. Checked out yesterday. Night 2- dog parking in the room next to ours. Called front desk twice, they said each time they would send maintenance to look into it. Could also hear a man in the room yelling at the dog to shut up. Tried to go back to sleep, woken back up at 11:45 by the dog barking and the man yelling. Called the front desk and asked about moving rooms or if they could please do something about the dog and asked if the dogs were allowed to cause a disturbance, no response about the dog but she said yes they could move me. So myself traveling alone with kids had to pack up all of our belongings and move in the middle of the night. Was told on the phone the room would be on the 8th floor. I said I didn’t think there were rooms available on 8 and she said “there have been plenty of rooms on the 8th floor available this week.” I was told at check in my preference for the top floor could not be accommodated. Had an 8 year old that couldn’t sleep after moving rooms, got to the second room and the remote to the TV didn’t work. Checkout day- was given a $20 credit to the attached restaurant for dine in only. Told the front desk we wouldn’t be able to use that, which I’m assuming was some sort of compensation for having to move rooms in the middle of the night. She said ok, we’ll take that back then. I asked if it was normal to not make the guests with the disruptive animal move rooms versus us. She said no, we usually just move whoever complains. I was exhausted from not getting much sleep either night. The kids and I each felt itchy in both beds, I couldn’t visually identify anything and we don’t have sensitive skin but it’s as enough at times to wake me up. I’m not sure what happened to the hospitality business but being offered nothing after expressing frustration at the stay multiple times by phone and in person at the front desk then even at check out being told I was moved since I was the one complaining. Honestly it just sucked. It was exh
