Rocklea Guest House

Where do we start . Firstly stay here you won’t regret it, Liz and Chris are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the Castlerigg room which was great with lots of space. Breakfast is wonderful with lots of choices, Chris and Liz ask you to make your selection the night before and give them an indication of a time, this is because everything is freshly prepared for you and Liz is always on hand with the coffee pot. The B&B is located in a quiet street with plenty of on street parking. Don’t let the parking put you off , we never once had any issues finding somewhere to park less than 30 sec away if not directly outside. It’s a 20 minute walk down into Bowness and 5 mins up into Windermere to finds lots of restaurants.

Fantastic home from home thanks to Chris and Liz. We were so well looked after, wish we'd booked for longer. Great location for car, buses, trains and boats on the doorstep. Set back from the main road so no noise but close enough to explore the local area on foot. Fantastic room with ensuite, lovely little extra touches, fresh water and milk in the fridge for our arrival and personalised breakfast which we ordered the day before so no fuss. Sat in the sunshine with a cuppa and the Brook at our feet, relaxing after a long day exploring. Will definitely be back thanks Chris & Liz

We stayed seven nights at the Rocklea guest house ( July 6-13th 2024 ) in the Castlerigg room and enjoyed our stay. The location on Lake Road is ideal being positioned between Windermere and Bowness making both readily accessible. Liz and Chris worked very hard to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and they succeeded. Our room was spacious and quiet and just the right temperature. The shower was excellent with water at just the right pressure and temperature. Everything at breakfast was perfect. We have stayed three times before at this guest house when Ian and Lynne were in charge and is as good now as it was then. We look forward to our next stay.

The guesthouse is in a perfect location (only a 15-20mins walk from the lake), our room was clean, comfy and very spacious. Our 3 hosts were wonderful and breakfast was simply out of this world (their Full English option and the pancakes were perfect!). We could not have wished for a better place to stay at and would definitely return.

The hosts Chris & Liz were very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The breakfast menu has a good choice and was always cooked to perfection. Our room Castlerigg was lovely and spacious overlooking the brook. Would definitely return.

We have just returned home from 3 wonderful days at Rocklea bed n breakfast , from the minute we arrived to leaving nothing was to much trouble for the hosts Liz n Chris , we had a fantastic room with a really big bed , a large t.v , sofa , 2 chairs and a table , the bathroom was a great size and we looked onto the beck and gardens, the breakfast was 5 star all freshly cooked and really tasty, it was a gem of a find situated between Bowerness and the town of Windermere just of the main rd so very quiet , great pub across the way serving really good food , we will definitely return Thankyou Chris n Liz .
