The Belsfield Hotel ★★★★
"Fantastic hotel; location, setting, service, etc. My only gripe was the excessive cost of drinks in the bar which was a shame."
Station Lodge - Free Off-Site Health Club Access with Pool, Sauna, Steam Room & Gym ★★★
"good good good good"
Low Wood Bay ★★★★
"Overall, the hotel’s cleanliness was excellent; however, the service was disappointing—starting at the reception, where staff made promises they failed to keep and evaded their responsibilities. I had handed over clothes for dry cleaning, but they were returned having undergone standard washing instead. Furthermore, the clothes were not clean, and an expensive shirt was ruined. The staff refused to take responsibility, claiming I had not specified dry cleaning—which was untrue—though I was eventually paid £100 in compensation. That was my experience during my stay."
The Lamplighter Dining Rooms ★★★
"The room is large, well-equipped, clean and sanitary. It is within walking distance of the train station. It is very convenient to take the bus from the train station to the surrounding towns. There are many choices for breakfast, and it is not bad. Overall, it is a good hotel"
Lynwood Guest House ★★★
"The cottage was very clean and had a very British style. Although the room was small, it was fully equipped. It was just a bit far from the train station."
Bowness Guest House ★★★
"This is a family hotel, I didn't notice it when I booked it. The room was clean and it was a 15-minute walk from the ferry in the town. The landlord had a lot of rules: for example, you can't bring food from the restaurant back to the room, put your shoes on the tray, check out at 10 o'clock, and you can't store your bag after checking out."
Applegarth Villa Hotel & Restaurant (Adult Only) ★★★★★
"This is a lovely hotel. We had a suite in the Stables. The room was smart and comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is close to the main street making it easy to get to restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to anyone"
Macdonald Old England Hotel and Spa ★★★★
"Let’s start with the absolute best part of the stay: stepping out of the back of the hotel. The mature gardens stretch right down to the water’s edge, complete with the hotel's own private jetty. Sitting out on the terrace with a coffee in the morning, watching the mist rise off Windermere and the boats drift past, is worth a massive chunk of the room rate alone. Because it’s located right in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, the convenience is unbeatable. You can park up (fair warning: parking is a hefty £25 per day) and completely forget about your car. The Bowness boat piers are a two-minute stroll away, and you are surrounded by local pubs and restaurants."
Lakes Hotel & Spa ★★★★★
"Got an upgrade to a bigger room, which was very spacious with a TV area. Room was very clean and the service at the hotel was exceptional. Mark was very helpful. The tourist area is just a short walk away. You won't regret staying here."

Linthwaite House Hotel
"The hotel, which I chose randomly, was a pleasant surprise beyond my expectations. It was truly "small but exquisite." Although I booked a basic room, it wasn't large, but it was very comfortable. The towel rack was heated, and there was air conditioning, which was another unexpected bonus."
Lindeth Fell Country House
"Nice view, good breakfast, but the bathroom in the room is too small"
Hawksmoor Guest House
"Clean, good location, excellent breakfast, Chinese management service"
Langdale Chase Hotel
"We called in as non residents for lunch on the terrace. We ended up going again twice more during our time in the lakes as we were so impressed. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and the staff on the terrace were exceptional. The food and drink were to a lovely standard. We booked on a lake cruise on the Albatross and it was wonderful. Definitely a must do if you are there. Rob and Pete on the boat were the most fantastic hosts. Unfortunately a lady had an injury just as we set off and they were so attentive and looked after her wonderfully. I would recommend to anyone looking for that touch of luxury to stay there. We will definitely be back!"
Holly Lodge Guest House with Free Off Site Health Club
"It was excellent. The bed was very comfortable, the view was pleasant, and the breakfast was delicious. I believe I will go there again."
Glencree
"Lovely stay. We had the romantic double room with a balcony which had picturesque woodland views with the soothing sounds of the stream brooke & birds, was just lovely. The room is small but perfectly kitted out & spotlessly clean. The bedding/towels/outdoor furniture are of a good quality and the addition of lakes toiletries was a fantastic touch. Just to note, a mini fridge is in the wardrobe which we didn’t spot until the morning we were leaving. Breakfast is good quality food and perfectly cooked, with little extra touches, such as served on a hot plate. All in all perfect location & stay. We will definitely return & I have my eye on the hottub suite already !"
Windermere Hillthwaite Hotel
"I have been to the Lake District several times. This hotel is the best. It simply exceeds expectations. You will know this hotel when you arrive in the Lake District. It is at the highest point of the Lake District and you can see the scenery. The view from the lake view room is like a picture. The room is very clean and tidy. The most important thing is The carpets are all made of wool and feel comfortable on the feet. Unlike some other hotels where the carpets look dark and dirty. I also like the tiles in the bathroom here🥹The breakfast here is very good compared to good hotels in London. It is also authentic. You must have breakfast at his hotel. The dinner is very rich. We also ate at the hotel one day and we were very surprised. The filet mignon was well cooked. The public space of the hotel is really big and warm compared to other hotels. It also has its own When I left the swimming pool and large garden, I told the aunt at the front desk that I would come back. If you choose it, you will not regret it. The pictures are all real shots of our room. The view outside the window of the room. You can refer to it for your reference in the morning, breakfast and dinner. So many words to comment 😂"
St John's Lodge Incl Off-Site Leisure Club
"The hotel is very beautiful, the breakfast is delicious, especially the mushrooms, the taste is good, the bathroom heater is very hot, it is very close to the town, and it is very convenient to walk to Orrest Head"
The Swan Hotel and Spa
Beaumont Windermere - Adults-Only Boutique Guest House- Free Parking & Wellness Access
"This BnB was perfect from start to finish. The location was brilliant a couple minute walk into Windermere and a 25min walk into bowness so we had the best of both worlds. The room was clean & had all the amenities that we needed. The continental breakfast was perfect too, nothing was too much for the hostess. Toast & pastries and a variety of cereals and yoghurt. Tea, coffee & fresh juice was available too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to the lakes. I would return in a heartbeat. Thank you for our stay!"
Woodlands
"Very good experience"
The Watermill Inn & Brewery
"Hotel quite far from lake ,need 10 mins drive there."
The Westbourne
"Parking is very convenient; you can also park briefly after check-out to explore the area, and it's a ten-minute walk to the lake. The breakfast was excellent, and the service was good. My small room was on the first floor, without an elevator, so be aware of this if you're bringing large luggage."
Burn How Garden Hotel - Bowness on Windermere
"The hotel is conveniently located 6-7 minutes from the station and lake area, making it easy to access boats and buses. The hotel's environment is pleasant, but honestly, the rooms are quite average. The carpet was a bit dirty, and there were multiple stains on the sofa. The bathroom only had a small bottle of shampoo, no shower gel, but there was a small bar of soap. However, the breakfast included with the room was surprisingly good. The à la carte main courses were very English and definitely worth praising. Just for the breakfast alone, I would recommend this hotel."
