Stableside at York Racecourse

Five days ago, a group from Belle Vue Primary school in Carlisle stayed here for one night. It was chosen for our overnight accommodation for our history visit to York. Upon arrival, our teacher was welcomed by Julia on the desk, who was instantly helpful. She checked us in quickly and allowed us upstairs. The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Unfortunately, we felt there could have been better storage for our things. Sadly, some of the beds were creaky in the night. The following morning, we ate in the restaurant. Options were cereal, toast, pancakes, bacon, sausages, eggs, hash browns and beans! It was a real feast! The whole meal was scrumptious and it tasted a lot better than it looked! Overall, it was a brilliant night at this hotel and it was relevant for our group size of 70 people. We would recommend it to other schools so think you should book it now! Finally, a huge thank you to the staff at Stableside hotel.

Stayed here this weekend with my mother and had a great stay! I was looking for an affordable location and wanted to avoid the travelodges and premier inns as I knew they would be full of hens and stags. This place was great! Really affordable, clean, free parking, very friendly staff especially those in the dining room! Loved the toiletries in the bathroom as well, felt like luxury products! It's a bit of a walk into York but a lovely walk and plenty of buses run down that road into York if you don't fancy it. A couple of nice pubs nearby as well for food if you want to stay local. Only small downside was the lack of curtains which meant that room let in a lot of light! But the beds were comfy and the rooms really clean. Will definitley be back!

The accommodation proved adequately satisfactory for my needs as I was travelling without my family. The room, although compact, had everything I needed. I did, however, have to search for the kettle, which I discovered in the wardrobe. I didn't find the toiletries that were advertised, but as I'd brought my own, this wasn't a major problem. I found the toilets and showers spotless, and the provision of a towel was welcomed, although I, again, had brought my own. The breakfast was superb, with plenty of variety, and set me up for the day. One gripe I did have was the sockets; one nearer the bed would have been ideal rather than making my way across the room to turn my alarm off. Another gripe, although not the hostel's fault, was other guests' inability to close doors with letting bang. (NOT hard to do if you push the handle down and slowly close the door from a short distance rather than letting it swing from the fully open position. All in all an enjoyable stay.

If you are looking for just the basics for an overnight stay this place is fab. Friendly staff who are very helpful. Rooms are very clean and the buffet breakfast is great. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend. Nothing is too much trouble.

Due to a busy thresher's week I couldn't book my regular hotel in York. The Stableside hotel was very helpful and Chris (Duty Manager) made me feel very welcome and comfortable during my short stay. My room was very clean and I got a good nights sleep in a king size bed. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and great coffee. I would recommend this hotel for its reasonable price rooms and great customer service.

Staff have been lovely, Room was spotless on arrival and plenty of car parking space! Beds are really comfy and breakfast was great, lots of variety! Location is far enough from the city centre that's it quiet but also on a bus route so no issues getting into town and there's a pub restaurant on the street just opposite the entrance. However, don't forget your hairdryer! Our room was small, bathroom small, myself and 3 kids did feel a bit on top of each other and lived out of the cases as there wasn't enough room to hang everything up or anyway to put anything to be honest but we were only spending 2 nights so wasn't that big a problem.
