I read previous reviews that the hotel has a pick-up and drop-off service, but I checked via email two days before arrival but found it was not available. In the end, I ended up using the luggage delivery service at Yufuin Station!
The staff was very nice when checking in! It's just that when booking a room, I entered the information of one large and one small. I don't know if it's a problem with trip.com or the hotel. For one room and two meals, I can only choose one or not. For one, I can only choose the 2 big prices. No. One big and one small! Just because there are only 2 large choices, the hotel only prepares 2 large toothbrushes for cleaning! I saw that the hotel had toothbrushes for children, and when I asked, they said they couldn’t give them to me because I booked a toothbrush for 2 adults! This makes me a little disappointed!
They are one, one and one. In fact, I can also know the booking information early in the morning! When I arrived, they said they could change me to a children's dinner! Of course, if the price is very different, I won’t be refunded!
Dinner was in the hotel's lobby room, and the staff responsible for delivering the food were all very nice! The food was good but not much of a surprise! The kids meals are great!
There is a private bath in the room, which is why I booked it! The indoor private bath is useless because we are afraid of insects!
We checked out the next morning, and because we were going to change to another hotel, we asked the staff to help us transport our luggage to the station. We paid in advance and asked the staff to transfer us to another hotel at the station! It’s so convenient as we have to go out for fun early in the morning!
Overall it's good! The staff's attitude is very good!

Highly recommended, the hot springs are very flavorful and the open-air hot springs are great. The room is large, the service is excellent, and the kaiseki cuisine in the room is delicious! Excellent value for money

Great service. You can call the onsen ryokan when you arrive Yufuin station, and they can arrange shuttle/car drive the ryokan.
The service of the staff are professional and friendly. Our room was big, and they provide good and ergonomic pillows.
The dinner and breakfast were great too! Freshly made with seasonal food. One of the best place I’ve ever stayed in!

This is a boutique hotel with only 5 rooms, the small one is more than 70 square meters, and the large one is more than 100 square meters. The price is relatively expensive, but we were fully booked during our stay.
The hotel is located in a layered garden with a very sense of design. There is a small green landscape outside each room. The room has a living room, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, toilet, large pool hot spring, shower room and sauna room, and two small platforms. The wine, snacks, ice cream, etc. in the bar are all free. There is also a one-hour free spa.
Breakfast is in its own restaurant. We stayed for two nights. The first dinner was in its own restaurant. The second night was in the hotel's exclusive restaurant that was not open to the public. The Japanese chef only served us and our husband. We have absolute private space and will not meet other guests in the hotel.
When we checked in, the hotel had just opened for 3 months and was still in the running-in period, but we could feel that the staff were very dedicated and wanted to provide the best service. Our account manager and housekeeper Eliena was very thoughtful, available at any time, and had no problem communicating in English.
Question: 1. The room design needs to consider the safety of customers. For example, the bed in the bedroom is on a half-foot high platform. Although there is a floor lamp, it is easy to step on empty space when getting up at night. In addition, there are three steps from the bedroom to the hot spring, bathing and other areas. The steps are cement gray. Although not high, they are easy to be ignored. 2. Although there is a glass partition door, the hot spring water and hot spring related equipment are quite loud at night. It is very uncomfortable to fall asleep on the first night. Guests with sleep problems can negotiate with the hotel to turn off the hot spring at night so that the water will not flow.

The hotel is very beautiful, the room is also very big, and I booked a private bath, which is really enjoyable. The most surprising thing is the dinner. I thought it was just a set meal, but it turned out to be very rich, similar to Kaiseki cuisine, with not only various sashimi but also small hot pot, Wagyu barbecue, desserts, etc. I was really full at the end of the meal, and I felt that the room price was instantly halved. Haha. The Japanese breakfast the next day was also very good.
Disadvantages: The transportation and life around the hotel are really inconvenient, and you can only choose hotel dining. There is not even a convenience store at the door. The hotel waiters are a bit short of staff and there is often no one at the front desk. The heating facilities in the lobby are open flames. Although you can't touch the fire inside, the shelves outside are hot, and children are prone to accidental injuries. This is especially important.
Our room with a private bath is on the third floor, there is no elevator, and you need to carry your luggage up the mountain by yourself. If there is no man with you, it will be really tiring.
This hotel has about 30 rooms, which is relatively large in Yufuin. The location is a distance away from Yufuin Railway Station. If you have a lot of luggage, it is recommended to take a taxi. We walked for about 20+ minutes to get there, mainly because the suitcases are not easy to push on the way up the mountain.

great experience
This time I am traveling alone
But I get very warm care from here
There are a lot of cute touches everywhere in the hotel room + public areas
The whole building is very beautifully designed
Most of the walls are water molded
But paired with wood and cute graffiti, the overall feeling is trendy and warm.
There is no bathroom in the room, but there are three independent bathing areas on the first floor (you can bathe by yourself by locking the door)
The front desk is very friendly and helpful
It happened that the restaurant was closed for dinner and he recommended it to me + called to make a restaurant reservation.
The recommended restaurants are also great!
It's a pity not to have dinner
But we had breakfast the next day, which was a Japanese buffet breakfast.
Saury + white rice is really delicious!
Overall I had a great experience

The location is not close to Yufuin Station, which is more convenient for self-drivers. There are ample parking spaces and free parking. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the nearby supermarket, but
It is a hotel with a sense of history but very clean. There is an additional fee of about $2xx Hong Kong dollars for children to stay. In addition, children's toothbrushes cost another 500 yen. I am speechless...but the dinner set menu is good and you can eat until you are full!

Great value for money. Biggest room I ever had in Japan. Whilst slightly far from the city center on walk, the location is accessible by car in 7 mins.

The room was OK, but the balcony was designed to be lonely and could not be connected to the yard. The hot spring hotels I stayed in Japan were all very cost-effective. For a price of 4,000 yuan, there was only a small public hot spring in the room.
The waiter seemed to have a fake smile on his face, and his Indian English accent was hard to understand. Compared with the services in other places in Japan, there was no sincerity and enthusiasm at all. We checked in at 3 pm, arrived early and put our luggage there, and it felt like the boss was unwilling to receive us. When we left, we were supposed to check out at 10 pm, but because they said they couldn't see a taxi at 10 pm, we had to leave at 9:30. I asked if I could put my luggage in the hotel and go out for a walk first, but I was rejected.
Besides, the two meals were really simple, using the cheapest ingredients, and there were only three pieces of beef, which was really superficial, and it was also relatively poor among the many Japanese hotels I have stayed in.
Overall, the service and catering can only be passed.

Outstanding
PPriscillaWe had a great 2 nights stay at this Ryokan. Location was near Yufuin Floral Village, and around 20 mins walk from Yufuin JR station. It was a nice walk to Yufuin JR station as there were many shops and eateries that you can visit along the way. Alternatively, there is also bus 36 from Yufuin but terminal that would stop near to the ryokan.
The staff were really outstanding, friendly and helpful. When we arrived, a couple of them rushed to help us with our luggage and to also shelter us from the rain. During the entire stay, they made us feel very welcomed.
The Western/Japanese room that we booked was very spacious and had all the amenities we required. Note that this is a 2 storey living area - level 1 had a bathroom with private indoor and outdoor onsen as well as the living room, while level 2 had a toilet (w/o bath) and 1 western bedroom as well as 1 Japanese bedroom.
There are 4 public onsen in the ryokan. 2 for female and 2 for male. They would rotate it during the day and night to allow everyone to try out the different onsen.
We also had our breakfast and dinner at the ryokan as part of the package. The dishes were different on both days. The spread was huge and food tasted great. Note that there are very few places open at Yufuin during dinner time.
AAnonymous UserVery satisfied! First of all, the location is excellent, very close to the lake and street and the art gallery. The room window is full of mountains and countryside, and the taxi to the station is only 600 coins; secondly, the outdoor private soup is very beautiful, thanks to the Ctrip housekeeper for helping us to reserve the private soup in advance; then the dinner is really great, especially the wagyu hot pot, which amazed us in one bite; the service attitude is very good, the emotional value is full, the house is a bit old, but very clean, in short, it deserves a high score.
GGuest UserIt takes about 15 minutes to walk to Yufuin Bus Station. It was difficult to move with a carrier. There were many traffic lights on the way and the car passed right next to me, so it was difficult with a carrier. ㅠㅠ But Yufuin-tei's bedding was clean and it was nice that there was a private hot spring. There were hardly any people in the hot spring, so it was very convenient to use. There was a smoking area at the check-in area, so it smelled a bit of cigarette smoke. The service was friendly, but it was a shame that there were no Korean-speaking staff. There was nothing to eat for dinner except steak. The breakfast was very delicious.
GGuest UserThe staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious.
GGuest UserFantastic accommodation. There's 5 onsen that you can try out during your stay. Food is really good with free flow alcohol for dinner. Really sweet of the staff to prepare snacks and a complimentary Polaroid shot when you check out. Everything is just so comfortable and fuss-free.
GGuest UserLocation is very nice, except there's a gravel road before reaching the hotel. It's around 10min drive from downtown so it's close enough.
Hotel is old but quite authentic and highend. There's a nice bridge you need to cross before going to the main hotel area. There are 2 private onsen you can just walk in, they are right next to the river, very nice experience.
there are some bugs around so i wouldn't say it's all clean, but you are next to the mountain so i guess cant expect too much.
worst thing is i did not notice my booking which is $400 usd, did not include dinner and breakfast, which is very standard for a onsen ryokan. I had go out and buy my own food when i expected to be in a yukata and eating nice hotel food.
SSame Raksa DangIt sounds like you had an amazing experience at that hostel! Here's a slightly polished version of your review:
If you're looking for a budget-friendly hostel with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to be. The owner couple is incredibly friendly and makes you feel at home right away. I was greeted by a new roommate and the owner even took us on a night tour to Kinrin Lake and Floral Village, which was such a lovely surprise. The breakfast is absolutely delicious, and the couple’s romantic gesture of singing a beautiful thank-you song before you leave just adds a special touch. Their voices are stunning, and it truly makes you want to return
GGuest UserThe waiter at the hot spring hotel is very attentive. After arriving at the hotel, the waiter will lead you to the room where you are staying. The waiter will explain the hotel facilities in detail, including the opening hours of the outdoor hot spring, meal arrangements, etc. Bob, the waiter who received us, spoke very fluent English, was attentive to arrangements, and had a friendly smile, which made people feel very relaxed and natural. The waiters here understand Mandarin and have no problem communicating. The room I booked this time is equipped with an independent bath, which is semi-open-air. You can see the outdoor scenery. The water quality and temperature are very good, and it feels very good. In addition to enjoying the hot spring in my room, I also soaked in the public hot spring in the hotel. There is an outdoor and an indoor hot spring. There are time limits. Although the hot spring is not too big and can accommodate 6 people each, there was no one during the time I soaked. Maybe Let’s all enjoy the bath in the room. However, I recommend that you book a room with an independent hot spring bath, because you can soak in the hot spring at any time. There are not many rooms here, and they are highly private, so you can enjoy a peaceful a**osphere. I booked a stay with two meals. This meal is mainly fish. In addition to raw fish and grilled fish, friends who like to eat fish should not miss it.
GGuest UserIt was a very happy family trip. I made a reservation for a family bath in the morning, but I overslept and couldn't use it, but I'm still satisfied. My baby ate the welcome cookie well, so I bought it and left it behind, but I was so sorry and grateful that they kindly took me to the train station. Thank you for giving me good memories.
