All the staff were white-haired gentlemen, and everything they did was smart and kind, and I was impressed by their warm hospitality. The New Year's food was also very colorfully presented and delicious, and the composition of the food and the use of the dishes were wonderful. We had a peaceful and enjoyable New Year's. It was an inn that I would like to visit again in a different month."

"My wife and I stayed in the villa for two nights. Overall, the atmosphere was great and we were able to experience something out of the ordinary. The villa's open-air bath, filled with natural hot spring water, is charmingly carved out of a large rock. It was spacious enough to stretch out and enjoy a luxurious stay. The washing area was separated by a door, making it easy to stay warm, and I really appreciated the thoughtfulness, even in the cold season. And above all, since our room had its own open-air bath, being able to use it whenever I wanted felt incredibly luxurious. For dinner, we chose the yakiniku plan, which included a Zao beef platter, which we enjoyed grilling over charcoal to perfection. The breakfast menu was also very varied and satisfying. I ended up overeating. This is definitely the perfect inn for an extraordinary experience. Thank you for the wonderful memories."

"We booked our accommodation for the night at Ryokan Sanjiro in Togatta Onsen. Traveling down the Zao Echo Line from the top of Mt. Zao towards Miyagi, we arrived at Togatta Onsenkyo. Ryokan Sanjiro was built on a small hill on the east side of Togatta Onsen town. It is a medium-sized Japanese-style inn with a number of different paths to follow, each one of which was lovely with its own quaint space. From the large public baths, Katsupa no Yu and Togen no Yu, we had a magnificent view of the Zao mountain range. Dinner at a restaurant called Kamado was a seasonal kaiseki meal made with locally produced in-season ingredients, which we enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere, along with some local Miyagi sake."

"The service attitude of the staff is very good. Although their English proficiency is not high, they are still willing to communicate through mobile phone translation and try their best to provide assistance. I checked in at the beginning of December 2024. Due to the onset of winter, the temperature dropped and snow began to fall. I was not sure whether some attractions were open, such as Zao Juhyo, Zao Ski Resort, and Central Ropeway Station. The staff took the trouble to go online and call for inquiries. Let us make good use of our sightseeing time."

"The hotel has no elevator. It is very inconvenient to get luggage up and down during the ski season. They say the elevator is under repair, but in fact they are just rebuilding it. There was basically no explanation for children when they checked in, and they were charged the same fee as adults. It was very unreasonable. The butler of Ctrip helped to deal with the problem very patiently, but I felt that the hotel was perfunctory in response. It was disappointing. I will not choose to stay in this hotel in the future. But thank the butler of Ctrip for their patient coordination again."

"Small inn located in the town. It’s mainly Japanese style but with a few western touches eg beds in tatami room and some fusion food items. The communal bath (indoor only) is not that big but there are also three private baths you can use as much as you want without needing to reserve. I liked the cute samue (pyjama type clothes) that were provided in addition to the usual yukata. We paid ¥44,000 for two people including dinner and breakfast. The drinks were included in the price but there were set times eg bar from 3:00 to 5:30 then drinks during dinner to 8:00 then nightcap till 9:00. We found it a bit strange that the bar was only until 5:30 as we had booked dinner for 7:00 (the latest time available) and as we only arrived at 5:00 we had to hurry to have a drink before dinner. This was a bit different from what we understood from the website which said drinks were available from check in until the end of dinner. We were also surprised that there the only beer available was Carlsberg. It was really strange that there was no Japanese beer not even in bottles. The food was good quality but we preferred the Japanese dishes to the western fusion dishes. Probably we will not go there again as we prefer a more traditional atmosphere with a view and outdoor bath. However we chose it because it is near Sendai and we needed to return our rental car the following morning. The other onsen towns nearby tend to mainly have big hotels so at least this was small and charming even if not totally to our individual taste."
