Introduction
Some information may have been translated by Google Translate
Yogyakarta, a city in central Java, Indonesia, is home to a number of well-known temples, which are not only places of religious activities, but also a gem of Javanese culture and art. Borobudur, located about 40 km northwest of Yogyakarta, was built by the Sharientra dynasty and was the largest Buddhist structure in the world in the 9th century. Its name comes from Sanskrit and means "Buddhist temple on the top of the mountain". In addition, the Prambanan Temple complex, located 15 to 17 km east of Yogyakarta, is one of the larger and more beautiful Hindu temples in present-day Indonesia, built around the late 9th century. Prambanan was once a place of worship for Buddhists and later converted into a Hindu temple complex.

#tripinspired#waterfall#summervacation

Checking in at Borobudur!

Checking in at Borobudur!

Prambanan is the largest Hindu architecture in Indonesia, built about 1200 years ago. Before the Islamization of Indonesia in the 15th century, the overall influence of Hinduism was the most profound. The relics of Borobudur, Prambanan, etc., all inherit the cultural influence of the Indian Chola Dynasty. However, after the Islamization of Indonesia, most Hindu believers moved to Bali, so now only Bali in Indonesia still believes in Hinduism. Prambanan consists of 8 main temples and more than 250 isolated secondary temples. The three main temples (Trisakti) respectively worship the three main gods of Hinduism: Shiva (the god of destruction), Vishnu (the god of order), and Brahma (the god of creation). Hinduism is a polytheistic religion that advocates animism, but almost all other gods are incarnations of these three main gods. More than 250 independent temples (Pewara) of different sizes are built around the temple. People think that Pewara symbolizes the king's subjects. Pewara is arranged in four circles, the innermost circle is only allowed for Brahmins to enter, and the other three circles are used by Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras respectively. It is worth mentioning that the caste system is inherited to Bali, it is not distinguished between surnames, but follows local traditions, and there is no prohibition of contact and intermarriage between different castes. In Nepal, which also believes in Hinduism, everyone calls themselves Brahmins, so naturally there is no caste hierarchy. Indonesia

Borobudur temple. Magical moment

Borobudur temple. Magical moment

This is a 9th-century Buddhist temple in Central Java is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The best city to get to this temple is Yogyakarta. I recommend you to get here by motorbike as the drive across the villages is quite nice and you will have your own time to visit the temple. Most of the tours do sunrise from a view point but then the temple gets very crowded so I will avoid sunrise. I went during the day and it was totally worth it. I will recommend you to get the tickets in advance as they usually sold out if you don’t plan with several days in advance. You have two tickets option, (ground tickets or structure tickets) go for the structure ticket as you will be able to climb the temple, otherwise you will stay on the ground and if you are here it is a must to climb it! Tickets are 455000rp by the time I visited. Once you get to Borobudur they will organise groups to visit the temple as there is a limit on the amount of people who can climb within a time slot. This is to preserve the condition of the temple, they will also give you cute sandals to walk in the temple and you will be able to keep them as a souvenir. It is a beautiful temple, it rained when I got to the top and it was really magical.
