Endless Meat!
Is anyone else a total carnivore like me—the kind who just can't live without beef? The wife knows my weakness, so she treated me to an "endless meat" buffet.
This spot is The Food Gallery inside The Langham, Hong Kong! It was my first time having the buffet here. The space isn't massive, but the food selection is huge, and everything is actually delicious.
Right as you walk into the buffet area, the left side is loaded with a variety of cheeses, cold cuts, and fresh bread.
Next up is the Chinese section! The first things that caught my eye were the incredible-looking Singaporean black pepper fried lobster tail, golden salted egg yolk fish skin, pan-fried Wagyu beef tenderloin with black truffle and wild mushrooms, flambéed Wagyu with scallions and Moutai, dry-fried udon with Wagyu, and steamed red grouper in black bean sauce. So many beef dishes right up my alley—absolutely amazing!
Over at the live noodle station, the chef whips up abalone sauce fish maw tossed noodles and crab meat golden broth tossed noodles right in front of you.
There are also three kinds of Chinese roast meats that look stunning; I definitely have to try them later.
Moving to the grill section, there's a gorgeous baked scallop in puff pastry and Spanish red prawn cuttlefish toast. For soups, they offer a traditional Juncus, Ophiopogon, and snow pear soup, alongside a corn and mixed vegetable soup.
Continuing down the line, there are two types of curry (one meat, one vegetarian), complete with Indian biryani, paratha, and papadums for dipping.
Then comes the carving and roast section featuring beautifully pink BBQ butterflied leg of lamb, Russian beef, sweet and sour grilled chicken, and Korean-style grilled pork belly. It's a meat-lover's paradise—the only catch is whether you have the stomach space for it all.
This specific corner features two absolute bangers! First is the steamed oysters with garlic and vermicelli in a bamboo basket, and then there's the Wagyu ribeye that literally made my eyes light up. They even have fries, stir-fried shiitake mushrooms, and mixed veggies on the side to pair with the beef.
When it comes to drinks, it's pretty sweet that all the canned beverages are up for grabs! But if you enjoy a drink like I do, you can add $138 for unlimited red wine, white wine, and The Langham's signature draft beer.
Next, we strolled over to the Japanese section! Today's sashimi lineup included scallops, Argentine red shrimp, herring, sea bream, and salmon. Everything looked plump and super fresh.
They also have a ton of different sushi rolls and mini rice bowls.
The best part about the seafood section is the freshly shucked oysters! They're only available on Thursdays and Fridays, just like the tomahawk steak.
They also offer an insane variety of chilled seafood like brown crab, whelks, mussels, snow crab legs, king prawns, clams, and abalone.
The salad bar is fully loaded! You'll find fresh veggies and specialty appetizers, but the thinly sliced Wagyu beef carpaccio salad was what really stole my heart.
The desserts here are no joke! First off, they have Mövenpick ice cream—which everyone loves—with 8 flavors to choose from. How can you resist? Haha.
There's also a unique KitKat dessert station. If you snap a pic and share it on social media, you get a cute food clip as a gift.
They have so many bite-sized desserts on display! A lot of them are made with KitKat, and there's even 72% dark chocolate for the taking. Chocoholics, do not sleep on this.
Then there are the made-to-order soufflé pancakes and mille-feuille egg tarts! Just between us—you absolutely cannot miss these, they are incredible.
Finally, there are some specialty desserts, cakes, and fresh fruit. They even had durian-flavored cakes and sweets, which the wife and I both adore. Pure bliss!
If you prefer hot beverages like I do, the self-serve hot drink station hits the spot! You can whip up your own coffee, milk tea, lemon tea, or hot water with lemon.
Of course, I upgraded for the booze! The Langham's house draft beer goes down incredibly smooth! Perfect for this hot weather—I definitely need a couple more pints.
The freshly shucked oysters today were from Japan! They were plump, sweet, and top-tier quality.
Parma ham with melon is always a winner! When I wanted something slightly less sinful, the kale was great, and the Wagyu carpaccio salad was the perfect appetizer to kickstart my carnivore appetite.
From the chilled seafood, I really enjoyed the snow crab legs! Mainly because the wife peeled them for me, haha.
The sashimi was phenomenal! The Argentine red shrimp had a satisfyingly sticky texture and were incredibly fresh. The sea bream and salmon were also super fresh—I could easily eat a ton of these.
The nigiri sushi here was actually quite a surprise! The sliced abalone sushi was super fresh, and the sushi rice had great texture.
The baked scallop in puff pastry looked picture-perfect! The scallop inside wasn't massive, but it was fresh. Eating it with the flaky pastry and the sweet sauce inside was a great combo.
Besides the raw oysters, the steamed oysters with garlic and vermicelli were solid too! The oyster meat was fresh, and the garlic vermicelli made it super flavorful.
That Spanish red prawn cuttlefish toast was crispy and bouncy—so good. The pan-seared foie gras was also nice; the fruit on top helped cut through the richness. The golden fried fish skin was the ultimate bar snack for my drinks.
Both the Chinese and Western soups were tasty, but I'm not a huge fan of sweet fruit soups, so my vote tonight went to the corn and mixed vegetable soup.
Suddenly, a bell rang—it was time for them to serve the limited-time Beef Wellington!
We lined up, waited for the chef to slice it, and brought it back to the table to savor.
Naturally, I had to grab a glass of red wine to pair with the premium beef! Even though it's free-flow, the wine quality is actually pretty decent.
The puff pastry was perfectly crispy and flaky. Inside, a layer of earthy mushrooms wrapped around the tender, pink beef tenderloin. Every bite had a great mix of savory meat and mushroom flavors, and the beef was cooked to absolute perfection.
I also loaded up a plate with nothing but beef to satisfy my cravings! The freshly carved Wagyu ribeye had a deep, rich flavor and, most importantly, wasn't overcooked. The pan-fried Wagyu tenderloin with black truffle and mushrooms was ridiculously fragrant—if you love truffle, you have to try it.
Since I promised to go crazy on meat tonight, I obviously couldn't skip the rack of lamb! The fat-to-meat ratio was spot on; it was incredibly tender and had a great, distinct lamb flavor.
Even though I was getting stuffed, the two made-to-order noodle dishes were too tempting! I grabbed one of each to share with the wife. The crab meat golden broth noodles were nice and chewy, packed with silky egg whites and crab meat—really delicious.
But I actually preferred the richer abalone sauce fish maw noodles! It had plenty of smooth fish maw paired with thick, chewy noodles. A really solid dish.
For dessert, the made-to-order soufflé is a must—you can even choose durian puree as a topping! As a huge durian fan, there was no way I was skipping that. The soufflé was light and airy, and paired with the rich durian flavor, I was in heaven.
And the mille-feuille egg tart was the wife's top recommendation! One bite in, and the crust was shatteringly crisp. The custard inside was molten, sweet, and fragrant. Damn, it was ridiculously good.
Lastly, I tried some of the KitKat desserts! Since the wife loves chocolate, I had to look out for her. This dinner buffet starts at $798 per person (plus 10% service charge) and is available until September 30th.
