If you don’t go shopping and just walk around, you can finish the tour in half a day. The houses throughout the city are colorful, so they look very photogenic. In my mind, the most special thing is not the colorful houses or volcanoes, but the Mayans. Because we used to think that the Mayans had disappeared, but that is not the case. Guatemala is the place with the largest Mayan settlement in the world (other places include El Salvador, Mexico, and Belize). Antigua and the shores of Lake Atitlan are places with relatively large Mayan settlements. At first I thought the Mayans here wore their own costumes just for tourists to see, but later as I traveled to other parts of Guatemala, I found that they really liked wearing their own costumes. The prices in Antigua are the highest in Guatemala, basically the same as in Hong Kong. What I remember most about this place is the fruit, because no matter whether it is the fruit cut on the street or bought in the market, none of them is rotten or not sweet. Everything is sold at the Mercado, so you don't have to worry if you run out of clothes or other things.

It is a tour where you can climb the active Fuego Volcano to Acatenango Mountain and appreciate it for one day. It is a trekking that takes about 4 hours, so it is difficult, but it is more than worth it! You can see the beautiful active volcano day and night, and the tour fee is also quite cheap at about 40,000 won.

The Acatenango Volcano Tour is the most famous, but Pacaya is a short 40-minute trekking course where you can see an active volcano. You can also eat marshmallows roasted with volcanic heat!! You can choose between 6 and 14:00 for the tour, and I recommend the 14:00 tour because you can see the sunset. Tour fee is 100 quetzals / entrance fee is 100 quetzals

#fallishere Bella Vista has incredible coffee. They not only produce their own beans but they work with other farms throughout Guatemala to bring their coffee to market. The storefront is a nice place to pick up some beans. To me this is the best coffee shop in Antigua Guatemala. staff was friendly and helpful too . To get here, you need to enter through the liquor store (there’s a sign for Bella Vista on the street) and take the stairs in the back to the top floor.

#fallishere Super cute sunflower farm! Great place to relax and enjoy gorgeous sunflowers, against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains around Antigua. You can buy sunflowers or just come to enjoy the beautiful setting. There's even a play area for kids. Great place to get away from the city and enjoy nature! (It's also just down the road from another organic farm so you can visit both on the same day). Entrance fee is 10Q

#fallishere Antigua Guatemala Cathedral Ruins is a remain of the church which use to occupy this space . This is one of the most stunning ruins I have seen. It’s so well preserved and picturesque. It’s very beautiful to watch with the clouds pass by through the roofless nave, really beautiful. Inside there is not much to read on, couple of posts with information in spanish but there are picture/painting how the cathedral looked before its destruction. If you want to know more I’d recommend booking one of the walking tours Entrance is 20Q

#fallishere Museo del Hermano Pedro is probably the most stunning ruins in all of Antigua. I strongly recommend visiting this place if you find yourself in Antigua.It is very pretty and relaxing garden also a fun place to explore the ruins. Remember to wear comfortable shoe as it requires a lot of walking. There are even a few vendors outside to get a drink and a snack if you feel hungry

#fallishere Beautiful architecture and it excellent acoustics make the baroque Iglesia Escuela de Cristo a must-see gem to visit and learn about the history of the city of Antigua Guatemala, with it events of any kind are celebrated inside and it has its own park, in addition the convent is really large, in the park in front there is a cross and around it there are hotels in the church, it is a very quiet place

#fallishere Santa Catalina Arch is the famous landmark of Antigua Guatemala. It is located on 5th Avenue North. Built in the 17th century, it originally connected the Santa Catalina convent to a school, allowing the cloistered nuns to pass from one building to the other without going out on the street. A clock on top was added in the era of the Central American Federation, in the 1830s. The Guatemala Post Office Building in Guatemala City is based upon the arch. Great spot to capture the images of the volcano in the background.

It is well known for its Spanish colonial buildings, many of them restored following a 1773 earthquake that ended Antigua’s 200-year reign as Guatemala’s colonial capital. If you have the time in Guatemala will highly suggest to do a day trip to this interesting city

#fallishere Amazing view of the city of Antigua even it a bit cloudy and it was peaceful in the morning. It was a great hike and it’s best to go early if you can. Wear proper hiking shoes and don’t forget to bring bottled water and a rag. I got to the top of the hill around 7:30am. The only other people there were the park cleaning staff. The hours of Cerro de la Cruz are 7am-6pm and it’s free to enter. I went on a Wednesday morning, but I imagine it gets very busy and much hotter in the afternoon.
