Banlung travel guide and discussion

I have visited Terres Rouges In Ratanakiri province, Cambodia. The room was designed traditionally it was great but the view in the park is amazing with a very nice swimming pool as well. The food was okay. Overall I give it 8/10 😊😊

#bucketlistdestinations Yeak Laom Lake is a 4,000-year-old volcanic crater lake located just 5km from Ban Lung. For $2 (8,000 KHR, cash only), you enter a park that feels like a secret garden hidden inside a mossy crater forest. The water is a clarity I’ve never seen before—a deep, sapphire blue that reflects the canopy like a mirror. The 3km walking path around the lake is covered in a thick blanket of moss and shaded by 100-foot-tall Dipterocarp trees. I arrived at 7 AM, hoping to beat the heat. My mistake was underestimating the humidity; within 10 minutes, my camera lens was fogged up by the moisture trapped in the forest. A local Tampuan woman selling boiled eggs and sticky rice by the entrance saw me struggling. She gestured for me to hand her my lens cloth. She breathed on it, wiped it with a specific leaf she plucked from a nearby bush, and handed it back. The fog was gone. “Leaf magic,” she smiled, refusing the extra dollar I offered. Swimming in Yeak Laom is an ethereal experience. The water is a constant 20°C, and the bottom drops off sharply just meters from the shore. Floating on your back, you see nothing but a perfect circle of green forest and sky. It’s a sacred lake for the indigenous communities, and you can feel that reverence in the silence. There are no motorboats, no loudspeakers, just the sound of the wind in the mossy trees. When a place is considered sacred by its original inhabitants, should we be allowed to swim in it, or should we only be allowed to stand on the shore and witness its perfection?

Yeak Laom Lake is one of the most beautiful natural places to visit in Ratanakiri, Cambodia 🇰🇭. Located near Banlung, this volcanic crater lake feels calm, fresh, and almost untouched, surrounded by thick forest, bamboo, wooden platforms, and quiet walking trails. What makes Yeak Laom Lake special is its peaceful atmosphere. The water is clear and still, reflecting the clouds, trees, and blue sky like a natural mirror. It is the kind of place where travelers can slow down, walk around the forest path, sit by the lake, take photos, or simply enjoy the quiet sound of nature 🌱✨ The lake is also a great place for a soft adventure. Visitors can walk around the circular trail, enjoy the wooden viewing decks, learn about the local Tampuan community, and swim in some areas if conditions are suitable. The experience feels simple but memorable — no crowds, no rush, just fresh air, green views, and a beautiful lake hidden in Cambodia’s northeast 💦 Nearby attractions can make the trip even better. Around Banlung and Ratanakiri, travelers can visit Cha Ong Waterfall, Ka Tieng Waterfall, Kachanh Waterfall, Banlung Market, local villages, rubber plantations, and nature viewpoints. For a longer adventure, Virachey National Park is also a good option for travelers who love trekking, forest landscapes, and wildlife experiences 🌳 For where to stay, Banlung is the easiest base because it has more hotels, food options, and transport. Good hotel ideas include Ratanak Resort, Yeak Loam Hotel, Terres Rouges Lodge, Green Plateau Lodge, and Ratanakiri Paradise Hotel & Restaurant. Staying in Banlung makes it easy to arrange a tuk-tuk or car to Yeak Laom Lake and nearby waterfalls 🏨 My tip: visit in the morning for cooler weather and softer light, or in the late afternoon for a more peaceful lake view. Bring water, comfortable shoes, mosquito repellent, and swimwear if planning to enjoy the water. Yeak Laom Lake is perfect for travelers who want nature, calmness, and a different side of Cambodia beyond temples and city trips ✨ #YeakLaomLake #Ratanakiri #Banlung #CambodiaTravel #TripMoment #NatureEscape #VolcanicLake #VisitCambodia #TravelCambodia #HiddenGem

Bun Term Restaurant 999 📍 PXQQ+FFF, Krong Ban Lung This restaurant is definitely a recommendation for high-value-for-money and delicious Cambodian cuisine. This restaurant has a large flow of people, and many local tour groups choose to dine here. It is also quite famous in Ban Lung City. Each guest is charged 10,000 Cambodian riels (charged per person), can choose one dish, and can eat all you can of rice. There are a wide variety of dishes to choose from, and even if you have any special requests or even dishes that are not on the menu, as long as the restaurant has the ingredients, the chef will be happy to serve you. Very thoughtful! Recommended dishes: Fried pork with eggplant, Cambodian sweet and sour soup, Cambodian fish soup, fried beef with ginger, etc. Whatever the dish, you will never be disappointed. #2024travelwish #autumnplace #cambodia #overseastravel #in-depthtravel #ratanakiri #checkinplace #food #banglung #cambodianfood

The Green Carrot Restaurant & Bar 📍 78A, Krong Ban Lung 16452 Green Carrot is a Cambodian-Western restaurant that is frequented by many foreign tourists. The boss mainly handles local tours in Ratanakiri, while the boss's wife mainly manages the restaurant. The restaurant has spacious seats, with bamboo as the main decoration, and the tablecloths are hand-woven products of ethnic minorities. I recommend their onion butter ribeye steak. The homemade onion butter attracted me the most. Their mashed potatoes are also very good. As for Cambodian cuisine, we recommend the fried seafood with fresh pepper, with its fragrant wok aroma. The boss speaks good English and is very talkative; so the employees are also friendly and cordial. #2024travelwish #autumngoodplaces #Cambodia #overseastravel #in-depthtravel #Ratanakiri #checkinplace #food #Banglung #Westernrestaurant #trekking

Green Hill Homestay 📍 P2J3+P5, Krong Ban Lung There are many hotels and hostels in Ban Lung, Ratanakiri Province, but this time I would like to introduce a cheap and good homestay for backpackers - Green Hill Homestay. This homestay is close to the popular Yeak Laom crater lake. It is surrounded by mountains and has beautiful mountain scenery. The B&B is a little remote, but it is most suitable for travelers who love tranquility and want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The guest rooms at the B&B are well-maintained and hygienic, with a large space and a private bathroom. The room rate is only $5 a night. The B&B has a restaurant, so you can relax here for several days without leaving the house. What you should not miss most is lying on a chair and looking at the stars at night. #2024TravelWishes #AutumnDestinations #Cambodia #OverseasTravel #In-depthTravel #Rattanakiri #Check-inDestinations #StarCurtain #Forest #B&B
