Bergheim, located along the Alsace Wine Route, is not a large or extravagant tourist destination but rather a village that charms with its simple and tranquil appeal. I stopped by for a meal and discovered a walking trail that circles the village. As you stroll along, you'll be greeted by peaceful views of vineyards and quaint timber-framed houses. The alleys are lined with flower-adorned homes, and the square features a small fountain and cafes, perfect for a relaxing break. Located in the small Alsatian village of Bergheim, La Cour du Bailli is a hotel and restaurant, brimming with authentic Alsatian ambiance. The medieval building features a cozy courtyard, making it feel as if you're sitting in the middle of a vineyard while enjoying your meal! The menu features traditional Alsatian dishes paired with local wines. I ordered Alsatian thin-crust pizza and choucroute, and the house wine was from their own winery, which made it even more special. This small place with only 2100 inhabitants is maybe not so famous but I like it a lot because it is different. When you enter through the tower (photo 2,4,5) there are cobble sone streets, trees and banks to sit and relax and have some ice cream Getting There - By car there is free parking right at the entrance By bus 40043 from Sélestat 21 minutes Attractions - 1. Herrengarten (photo 10) with the Tilleul Millenaire tree which was planted in 1313 2. Notre Dame de l’Assomption church (Photo 8) 3. La Mairie town hall (Photo 7) 4. Domaine Marcel Weiss winery 5.
