Bright has a population of about 2,000. It was a gold rush town in the 1850s and later became a quiet resort with tourism as its main industry. Every year in late April, the town is dyed with a layer of color by the autumn wind, as if entering a fairy tale world. During the Bright Autumn Festival, the town's gardens will be open to the public. Each garden has a different theme. During the ten-day weekend, the town center will be closed for a parade. My husband and i spend our last day to have our breakfast here before we left Bright. The chai latte was so good. Egg Benny were done beautifully. When I arrived, the twin cascades flowed gracefully into crystal-clear pools, inviting a moment of calm and reflection. The upper and lower falls each have their own charm both perfect spots to sit, relax, and soak in nature’s beauty. The colors of this season are stunning, with coordinated leaf colors lighting up the Alpine valleys, a stunning visual reminder that nature is still alive and well in this part of the world. 5 reasons to visit Bright in autumn: Autumn colours The colours that mark the arrival of autumn sweep across the Alpine Valley, from Wangaratta all the way up the mountains to Beechworth and Bright. The colors start changing in April and continue through May and into winter. Smaller Crowds As the weather cools and the Easter holiday comes to an end, the holiday crowds slowly dissipate. May is still a very busy time in the area, but it doesn’t seem to have the same overwhelming crowds as the warmer months of March and April. Summers in northeast Victoria can be very hot. Fall is pretty much perfect as far as weather is concerned. Although the weather will change with gradually cooler weather, the bright sunshine is amazing. Small town accommodation During the summer peak season, the best accommodations are often booked up 12 months in advance. Finding the right place to stay in this small town can be difficult. Postponing your trip until the fall means more options for where to stay. Rich autumn activities Bright and the surrounding area always have a busy calendar of activities. Myrtleford hosts La Fiera Italian Festival every May. The Mingqiu Festival is of course held in the autumn of each year. The festival is held when the bright autumn colors are at their peak. It features open gardens, farm tours, arts and crafts exhibits, street parades and music. The Highland Feast Festival also takes place every autumn (usually!). A two-week celebration of regional food and drink, featuring more than 40 events. #australiatrip Absolutely gorgeous views! A lot of cars just whip past this lookout, but it’s 100% worth stopping! You get a panoramic view of the surrounding alpine region, including The Horn (Mount Buffalo) and The Cathedrals. Just bring a jacket, as it’s always windy here (even in summer) What a beautiful scenic drive on my way back from Melbourne to Shepparton through Great Alpine Road. Stopped at Danny's Lookout point and amazing mountain views.
