Central Spain Tour ~ Madrid (Region) Cercedilla Station was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the Northern Railway Company and served as a hub between Madrid and Segovia. In 1923, the electric railway connecting Cercedilla and the port of Navacerrada (now Line C-9) officially opened. It is the terminus of Line C-8, which terminates in Guadalajara and runs through the mountains through Madrid. As such, it serves as the gateway to Guadarrama National Park. Its location at the foot of the mountains offers a unique advantage. The building, a masterpiece of civil engineering at the time, has been modified to accommodate the PRM platforms. The trackbed, with tunnels at each end and a curved path, adds to the charm of the railway environment. The resort is located west of the town of Cercedilla in the Sierra de Guadarrama. The town is surrounded by several peaks, including the Seven Peaks (Siete Picos), the Sphere of the World (La Bola del Mundo), the Peñota Peak, and the Peña del Águila Peak. Its prime location makes it an ideal place to enjoy nature, and its population increases in winter due to the proliferation of nearby ski resorts.
