If you find yourself in Jakarta, Indonesia, I highly recommend taking a quick getaway to Bandung! Located just about 155km away, it’s the perfect destination for a short trip spanning a few days. There are plenty of ways to travel from Jakarta to Bandung. You can rent a private car (taking 1-2 hours depending on traffic), hop on the high-speed Whoosh Train (about 1 hour including transit), OR, if you really want to savor the journey, take the scenic and cinematic regular train which takes roughly 3 hours. Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of nature, local villages, lush rice paddies, rolling hills, bridges, and more. I opted for the regular train but upgraded to the Priority cabin class for the full experience. The service is called “Parahyangan Priority”—and there’s only one cabin like this per train. I've attached photos so you can see for yourself! The exterior boasts a wine-red finish, giving off vintage luxury train vibes. Inside, the cabin features rich brown wood paneling and warm ambient lighting. With only 28-30 leather seats available, it’s significantly more spacious and tranquil than the standard executive class. You can book your tickets through Trip.com's train section, but be sure to select the correct route and schedule. A few things to note: · The Parahyangan Priority Cabin is only available on select days of the week. · Make sure you select Gambir (JKT) > Bandung (BDG) or vice versa. · Select “Parahyangan (138B)” > This is crucial!‼️ The Priority cabin is only attached to the train coded “138B”. · Then, choose the “PRIORITY EXECUTIVE” seat. ‼️ Make sure the word "Priority" is explicitly stated—don't choose anything else! · Both Gambir Station (Jakarta) and Bandung Station (Bandung) are centrally located, making it super easy to grab a rideshare app to get there and navigate the cities. _ Perks: While waiting at Gambir Station, you get access to an exclusive executive lounge with a private elevator, plus complimentary snacks and coffee! _ I snapped a ton of great photos because I'm absolutely obsessed with the interior design. Doing our 2nd gig-tripping, this time we swung by Bandung after catching the Linkin Park concert at GBK. Gig-tripping is a travel trend where music fans travel to a destination for a concert and explore the city while they're at it. We were only in Bandung for a short while, but it got us hooked—especially the unbeatable ROTI MACAN. They don't have any other branches 😭. It's ridiculously delicious and soft. Our stay at Hotel Grandia was so comfy; it's right in the city center and incredibly close to everything. 2 Days 1 Night in Bandung just isn't enough. For culinary experiences, there are places so addictive that every time I visit Bandung, I have to stop by, but there are also spots I find overpriced. And of course, Braga remains a destination that never fails for a relaxing stroll + nighttime photos. In essence, Bandung is all about exploring & finding your own favorite version. The journey from Jakarta CGK Airport took about two hours by chartered van. Being a city with an active volcano, we traveled with our family of seven, so we rented a van with a driver for convenience. The first night, we strolled Braga Street, the most colorful street in Bandung, filled with tourists and street vendors. The next day, we visited Tangkuban Parahu and Kawah Domas. The entrance fee for foreigners is approximately 200KRW. On the second day, we visited Kawah Putih, or White Crater, to enjoy the view from the top and walk down the bridge to the center of the crater. #Bandung #Indonesia Overall, it's a beautiful city worth visiting, and the cost of living is relatively affordable.
