The land for them was purchased in the 1970s by Franklin Houser as a family getaway. Upon his retirement from law in the 1990s, he decided to devote his life to wine. Since then, the vineyards have kept going and, after being sold to the Romero Family, it has stayed a family business. Famous for pioneering Black Spanish wines in Texas, harvested and produced from a special native grape, the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards produced flora, fruit-forward, oaky, and smooth wines that have tantalized tastebuds for years.
