#beachcheck This summer, I spent a day at Vega Beach in Mamaia, Romania, and it was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. Located along the Black Sea coast, Vega Beach is one of the more upscale spots in Mamaia, with a stylish vibe and plenty of amenities to make your beach day special. The entrance fee was around 50 RON (about $10), which included a sunbed and umbrella—definitely worth it for the comfort and convenience. The beach itself is beautiful, with soft golden sand and clean, calm waters that are perfect for swimming. The atmosphere is lively but not too crowded, making it a great spot to unwind while still enjoying some people-watching. The staff at Vega Beach were super attentive, bringing drinks and snacks right to my sunbed, so I barely had to move all day! The beach also has a nice restaurant where I enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch with a view of the sea. If you're looking for some activities, there are plenty of water sports available, from jet skiing to paddleboarding. For those who prefer a more laid-back day, the beachside massage service was a real treat—nothing beats a massage with the sound of the waves in the background. Nearby, you can explore the rest of Mamaia, which is full of restaurants, shops, and bars. I also took a stroll down to the nearby Mamaia Casino, a historic spot that adds a bit of culture to the beach scene. Overall, Vega Beach was a highlight of my trip to Romania. #bucketlistreboot Statue of Ovid in front of the Museum of National History and the Adjacent Square Ever since the Roman emperor exiled roman poet Ovid, he has retreated to the shores of Tomis, nowadays Constanta. He has then written many works of art describing the beauty of these lands. A statue of him was erected in the square in the late 1800s which was demolished by the Bulgarians in the first world war was later rebuilt by the Germans. In the square with the same name we also suggest you sit down in the old city centre for a lemonade. There are plenty of places with outdoors seating to cool off from the hot summer sun. #constanta #romania

#bucketlistreboot The cathedral is the seat of the Romanian Orthodox Archbishop of Tomis, as well as a monastery. Situated between Ovid Square and the Black Sea in front of the Archbishop’s Palace this Greco-Roman style cathedral offers great views towards the sea and stunning Orthodox paintings inside. In terms of size, it can be comparable to Sinaia Monastery. When comparing the inner paintings one can draw many similarities amongst the two but also with other Orthodox churches and monasteries. On the same street with the St. Paul and Peter Cathedral you can find the centre of Islam in Romania represented by the Grand Mosque. The Mosque itself wasn’t as impressive as the one in Sharm El-Sheikh but something to glance at nonetheless. #constanta #romania

This city rocks a multicultural scene thanks to its Bulgarian, Turkish, and Moldavian communities, plus an airport linking you to London and Istanbul. With the Shengen border gone, it’s a breeze to travel, especially off season for mellow crowds and a fresh city feel. Top Spot to Visit 🎲 The Casino of Constanța A must-see close-up: this stunning Western-style building sits right on the seafront promenade, ooze culture, and is perfect for photos when the sun’s out. Even if not fully open, the sight alone is worth the stroll! It is not bigger than Varna, so my recomendation is to park around the city centre by the blocks, there are many spots, with free parking, from where you see this view of the port. You walk down the city and discover pretty good center. Local Tips Don’t miss nearby Mangalia on weekend mornings—the bazaar there is packed with local goods from Romania and Bulgaria, super affordable, and better quality than big-name supermarkets. Drive or take a local bus for extra adventure and hit up the “solar system cities” along the way for quirky stops before finishing in Constanța. Getting Around Public buses and taxis are cheap; walking is easy around the city center. Most spots are close enough for a DIY tour! Food Picks Try local seafood on the promenade or look for family-owned Bulgarian and Turkish places—fresh, authentic, and budget-friendly. There is even a neck jet so you can massage your head, neck and shoulders, as you feel your muscles completely relax. Although not huge, the pool area is a great place to relax and cool off whilst sipping some of your favourite cocktails from the bar.

#bucketlistreboot The Mamaia Casino area is an interwar style building overlooking the sea. It offers a nice square with fountains and ample space for seasonal performances. Here you will see plenty of restaurants, some offer live music as well. We sat down here and had an ice cream whilst we eavesdropped on some music from a nearby Greek themed taverna. A fairly enjoyable experience to watch tourists go up and down the promenade. Royal Villa This was the Palace built in 1926 by the Romanian Royal Family. Unlike Peles Castle, the villa is somewhat more modest but imposing nonetheless. Nowadays it is owned by the Romanian Government, however much of the place is left in abandonment. #romania #mamaia

It offers a surface of over 27 000 sqm with plenty of amenities from fast food stands to cafes and plenty of attractions and rides. This is for sure is a winner with any family looking for a great day out. This Luna Park / Amusement Park is a must for anyone coming to Mamaia with kids. It has plenty of rides anything from roller coasters to carousels, this place has it all. Mamaia is a great opportunity to explore the Romanian seaside. We think a 5 night stay might be the sweet spot for a good stay. This will provide ample time to explore the nearby attractions and also enjoy the amenities this place has to offer. #romania #mamaia

#bucketlistreboot Amazing views and sunset from above. Ride the Mamaia Cable Car and enjoy the views :) The Cable Car was inaugurated in 2004 following a 3.5 million euros investment. It runs from Perla Hotel to the Mamaia Casino. Similar to the cable cars you see in Bansko and other ski resorts, it goes up to a hight of 50 m and stretches across 2.1 kilometres. The journey itself isn’t long, it took us under 10 minutes. However, the views are very nice and cover both the sea and Siutghiol lake. We went during dusk and it was serene and enjoyable to see the sun paint the water in bright orange. #romania #mamaia
