#hikingtime #100WaysOfTravel Hike with me and discover new findings. On my recent hike to Toru aux Cerfs, I came across this interesting blue weather station at a secluded part on the hiking trail. I came to realize that this is an importation weather station for Mauritius Meteorological Services to check for weather forecasts, patterns and tracking cyclones. It looked old from the outside but it is still working well. Since it is situated on a volcano so it is on a higher ground to monitor the entire island. Luckily there is a hiking trail and cars can pass through or else it will be a long walk for the weathermen to come here everytime.The views here are amazing as it look out towards Indian Ocean. #mauritius #traveltips #liveyourdreams #takethattrip

As a result, the visit lasted half an hour, maybe even longer, as he took the time to explain a lot to us. He told us about the connection between the Trou aux Cerfs and the Piton de la Fournaise, the history of the men who died on the spot, and presented us with different trees, their uses and the measures put in place to protect them. Not to mention the best places to take beautiful photos. In short, a true guide as we dream, with precise knowledge and passion to transmit. Namely: there are almost no signs or information displays on the site, so having a guide is not only useful, but highly recommended to really enjoy the visit.

Before going to the restaurant， we explored the old colonial house. It’s rich in character， with an interesting history. The rooms are well-preserved， and there’s a subtle elegance in how everything is maintained. You can sense the history while enjoying it in a relaxed manner. The restaurant is nestled amid this tranquil setting and perfectly complements the surroundings. The food was genuinely excellent—fresh， nicely presented， and flavorful. I tried the chicken curry， accompanied by rice and local sides， which was absolutely delightful. Everything was well-seasoned and clearly prepared with care. The menu offers a good variety， and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. Service was also very pleasant. The staff were friendly， quick， and always smiling， making us feel welcome without being too formal. They were easy to get hold of when needed， and everything was served promptly without feeling rushed. Overall， it’s a place I’d happily revisit. Whether for the food， the scenery， or a peaceful walk around the estate， Saint Aubin is definitely worth a visit. It’s serene， beautiful， and full of charm—a perfect little escape.

Trou aux Cerfs is located in the center of Curepipe, where there is a dormant volcano surrounded by nature; a large dense forest composed of local plants, as well as some huge green pine trees, lush green spaces, trees, flowers, and a small lake in the center. I have never seen such a beautiful view. If it weren't for a dormant volcano, I would find a way to lie on the untamed grass and dream of my prince charming, but reality is sometimes cruel. This is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant crater is about 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters and a depth of about 100 meters. Interestingly, Trou aux Cerfs is also known as "Mour Volcano." It is believed that the volcano erupted once and has been dormant for the past 700,000 years; experts believe it could become active again. Here, you can buy some souvenirs from the locals at a very cheap price, enjoy the magnificent views of parts of Mauritius from the crater's viewing point, and see the magnificent views of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Moka Mountains of Port Louis.
