Dinkelsbühl is a rare town that survived two world wars and retains its medieval streetscape. We stayed there. It's a small town, but it's fun just to walk around. If you drive to Neuschwanstein Castle, you can take your time without worrying about train times. We were late for our ticket, but they were gracious enough to let us see inside! The Dachau Concentration Camp was also an opportunity to reflect on and learn about its tragic history. Two hours was not enough for this trip either, so if you're planning on visiting, you might need half a day. Driving in Germany was easy. Of course, you have to be mindful of keeping to the right and driving on the left, and obey the speed limit (more people obey it than in Japan). When exiting the Autobahn onto a regular road, you'll suddenly come across a turning point, so you have to change lanes more quickly than in Japan, but the drivers are generally kind and willing to let you through.
