Located in southeastern Latvia near Belarus and Lithuania, Daugavpils has long served as a vital railway and industrial hub bridging the East and West. However, with land transport between Europe and Russia largely cut off in recent years, both passenger and freight traffic have plummeted. This has driven many locals to relocate for work. Although it remains Latvia's second-largest city, its population has dwindled to just 80,000. Beyond the train lines connecting it to the capital, the city also boasts its own tram network. The sheer scale of its infrastructure and urban layout offers a glimpse into its prosperous past. In addition to the downtown pedestrian street, the fortress district is a major tourist attraction. The St. Nicholas Gate, the fortress walls, and the water tower—which now serves as a visitor center—have all been beautifully restored. Nearby, you'll also find a classic car museum and an art gallery, both well worth a visit. The region is known for its diverse demographics. Alongside ethnic Latvians, there is a significant population of Russian and Jewish descent, making Daugavpils one of the few places in the European Union where Russian is the primary language.

My son is 8 years old, and he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Stropi Tarzan. It's a nice and safe experience for kids from 4 to 65. There are different levels of difficulty, for people with different abilities, and every person can find enough fun. I would advice to anyone to visit this attraction!

Daugavpils is full of amazing, stylish, cozy bars with unique approaches to cocktail making. To find surprises, sometimes you need to step off the main Rigas street for example to Alejas street and there you'll find an amazing D.O.M. bar. There is even a club square in this town, with 3 nightclubs. One More club is the main one. Dic has a good music, but not too many people. TEMA is for the bravest and the toughest. If you into fighting - then come and try your luck... 😃
