Online sources often describe summer in Cuba (June, July, August) as a hot, humid, and rainy season ⛈️ We visited Cuba twice, in June 2024 and 2025. During this time, the air temperature ranged from +25 to +35°C. On both occasions, the rains were brief, occurring in the evening and lasting 20-30 minutes, approximately once every 3-4 days.☔️ Sometimes, we barely noticed them. Therefore, I can confidently say that this "rainy season" is not a reason to cancel your trip, unlike in Asia, where rains can persist for a week. ‼️ From November to March, there is a chance of encountering the Portuguese man-of-war in the ocean. This is not a jellyfish but a siphonophore (a colony of organisms) whose stings are extremely painful and dangerous. They have long tentacles (up to 30-50 meters!) that can be almost invisible in the water. Even a dead man-of-war washed ashore retains its venom for several days. Contact with them causes: · Intense, burning, shooting pain. · Red blisters on the skin. 🌪️ Online sources also mention frequent storms during the summer. In both of our June trips, there were no storms, just a calm azure ocean. Humidity 💦 in June is indeed high; clothes don’t dry, the heat feels more intense, and breathing becomes harder. However, if you’re a tourist who spends the entire vacation lying on the beach under an umbrella, moving only between the bar and the ocean, it’s quite bearable. For an active vacation with excursions, the weather could be challenging, but we managed! We cooled off in bars or in air-conditioned cars during trips between locations, which is something to consider for long journeys. 🌞 The tourist season in Cuba is considered to be during the winter months. However, as our guide explained, this is the tourist season because Cuba is warm year-round, and the influx of tourists increases during winter. Traveling independently might not be safe, but taking a guided tour from Varadero in a minivan with air conditioning is a great option to explore this colorful and vibrant city. The journey from Varadero to Havana takes about 2 hours. Tours between Varadero and Havana usually include a stop at Cuba's highest bridge (Bacunayagua, 112 m). We liked Trinidad the most. What kind of city is it? It is the capital of the province of Sancti Spiritus. It is located on the coast in the southern part of the island, near Puerto de Casilda Bay in the Caribbean Sea. Together with the Valle de los Ingenios, it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Trinidad is often called an "open-air museum" due to its well-preserved colonial buildings. Attractions include: 📌 Plaza Mayor (main square). It houses several architectural monuments with museums where you can learn about the history of Cuba before the Spanish conquest. The square features a park with palm trees and benches, as well as the Church of the Holy Trinity, a late 19th-century church with a high nave, chapels, and arches. 📌 Church of the Holy Trinity. Inside, you can see a wooden altar and a 13th-century statue of Jesus Christ. 📌 Palacio Brunet. A yellow, two-story mansion from the early 19th century with blue-painted doors, windows, and a wooden balcony. It now houses the Romantic Museum. 📌 And most importantly, the beautiful streets are a must-see. Overall, it's worth setting aside one day to visit Trinidad. We have been to Cuba twice and would like to share our thoughts on whether it is worth visiting Cuba and Havana. Havana is an open-air museum: colonial architecture, 1950s retro cars, no outdoor advertising, open house doors, street musicians. It feels like stepping into the mid-20th century. The Capitol (a replica of Washington's). For just $20 per person, we got inside and, thanks to a Russian-speaking guide, learned a lot of interesting facts. Additionally, Revolution Square, the Grand Theater, the Malecon promenade, La Fuerza fortress, and Hemingway's house-museum all contribute to the city's unique charm. And, of course, Cuba's main attraction is its people. They are open, friendly, and eager to communicate. However, you should be very cautious—some of these friendly people are keen to help and earn money from tourists, which can spoil the impression of the city. In conclusion, Havana is a city for those seeking experiences, history, and local color rather than a beach getaway. If you are ready to endure some inconveniences for a unique experience, the trip will meet your expectations. And best of all, Yovanna Casa has an information booklet for Koreans! This book is filled with helpful tips from people who have actually stayed here. The hotel is luxurious but mainly attracts local Cuban guests, with few foreign visitors. There are significant problems with food and beverages due to restrictions. Note that since July 31, 2026, it’s no longer affiliated with Meliá and is now just Hotel Cohiba as the group has left Cuba. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, but frequent power outages are an issue.

I've experienced various all-inclusive resorts and destinations across Mexico, Cuba, cruises, Jamaica, and Europe, and we keep coming back to Ambar, now three years in a row. We absolutely love it! Initially, we booked Ambar directly, but now we book Aquamarine and upgrade to Ambar upon arrival—it’s a cheaper option. However, the beach has been unpleasant for the past two years—it smells terrible and looks awful. They do try to clean it, but if you walk 10-15 minutes to the left near Occidental and Hard Rock, the beach is stunning—blue waters and no seaweed. I truly enjoy this Bahia location, especially with five interconnected resorts. I love keeping active by exploring the pools, restaurants, and bars across all the resorts. One of my favorites is Esmerelda. They have the friendliest bartenders, including Josury, Andi, Orlando, Luisa, Mariennis, and Madeline. They always go above and beyond and even cut open a coconut we found on the beach to make fresh drinks. Esmerelda also offers incredible sweet potato fries and ice cream cones! The best lunch buffet can be found near the beach between Ambar and Esmerelda. Some standout features of Ambar include the restaurants, the coffee shop, and the service from Antonio, Juan, and manager Orlando. I love having breakfast at the main buffet where Fiordaliza makes smoothies and Miguel prepares omelets. My room and bed are always so comfortable, and I enjoy fun activities like pool inflatables on Sundays, making hats by the pool, and exploring other resorts for shows and dining. Joining Facebook groups has helped me ensure high standards during my stay, and I was thrilled to get my preferred room in Block 67 or 60. Many of the staff deserve recognition: Pool bartender Ali is stellar, Jesus at the Meat Restaurant works incredibly hard, Luisa at Esmerelda tirelessly runs both the bar and beach bar, and Nono, Ramon, Antonio, and Juan provide excellent service at various points. Ambiorix at the front desk even made sure we got the room we requested. One point to note: Ambar primarily attracts older guests, so there’s not a lot of music during the day, and the shows aren’t great. That’s why walking to other resorts for entertainment options is ideal. While the dinner buffet at Ambar is average, Esmerelda’s dinner buffet is outstanding. Although we’re technically not allowed to use their buffet, they provide everything you could hope for. Overall, as long as you're okay with dealing with seaweed and enjoy walking (or using golf carts), you will absolutely love this resort!

Visiting Havana numerous times before, I never imagined I could still be so surprised! This trip came during one of the toughest times in my life, and I am beyond grateful for the incredible attention I received and the unparalleled beauty of this hotel. Its unique and breathtaking views left me in awe. I stayed several nights in Room 407, which was pure luxury, as though the hotel had just opened yesterday! Without a doubt, it’s the most stunning hotel in Cuba. Walking through its spaces was truly exhilarating—I'm not exaggerating! Never in my life have I encountered a hotel so beautiful and nearly perfect, with everything so gorgeously arranged, from the designs to the interiors and staff. What can I say about arriving at the pool and enjoying that view? For anyone who loves Havana and Cuba, it’s an overwhelming sight! Sitting by the pool, taking in panoramas of Cuba’s iconic landmarks... it left me speechless. Photos may capture the beauty, but they can't convey the emotion of being there. You could spend the entire day by the pool, immersed in such spectacular surroundings in every direction. And the staff? They made me feel like part of the family—with their kindness, warmth, and impeccable service. From the reception to the bellhops, the lobby bar crew, the pool attendants, and the housekeeping team, I felt genuinely cared for. The food and drinks were of unparalleled quality, especially considering the circumstances. This hotel truly offers not just luxury but also luxurious employees!
