#tripaway Jezerca lakes (also called as Buni i Jezercës) is an amazing outdoor destination located near the highest peak of the Accursed Mountains (Prokletije), Maja Jezercë. The easiest way to go to the lakes is from Vusanje in Montenegro. But, if you want an off-trail adventure, then you definitely should try going from Valbona Valley National Park in Albania. Valbona Valley is 22 km from the city called Bajram Curri. Reaching Bajram Curri from Tirana takes around four hours. The bus station in Tirana is in front of Asllan Rusi Sports Center. Another way to reach Bajram Curri is from Prishtina, Kosovo. First, you go from Prishtina Main Bus Station to Gjakova Bus station and then from Gjakova take the bus to Bajram Curri. #visitalbania #tripaway

#europeonbudget Albania is an extremely underrated Europe Destination. It is split into two main parts - mountain views in the North with better than the Dolomites but with no crowds, and the South with the same waters as Greece but for one third the price. Albania is a true hidden gem in Europe with the friendliest people. I was only able to explore the North this trip but I am definitely heading back next time. A little information about traveling to Albania: ✨Food✨ One can easily get a full meal under 10 euros here. The food is very tasty with mainly influence from the Ottoman empire and Italy. Imagine food with the best of Turkey and Italian influence. Yum 😋 ✨Getting around✨ Driving is the most common way to get around Albania, with car rentals only being 15-25 Euros a day! I was not a very confident driver so I used public transport to get around which is much more possible now as Albania is starting to open up. If there is sufficient interest, I will post a guide to getting around Albania in public transport. ✨The people ✨ Hands down friendliest in Europe, and they are not at all racist to Asian people. Most in the tourist industry speaks English which is great. ✨Money✨ Probably the most annoying part in Albania. Bring plenty of Euro into the country and change it to Leks at the city. Withdrawing cash requires a large fee. It is rare to find Albanian Leks in your home country and the rates are good in Albania so just change t there. Although they do accept Euro, the rates are much better if you pay in Lek. Also, card is only commonly used in the capital only, so do not rely on it. ✨Safety✨ Most people are concerned about this but it is honestly the safest I felt in my multi-country europe trip. Just do not wear flashy items and have normal precaution. The trekking starts from the town of Shkodër. The course is 2 nights and 3 days in total. We board a minivan that departs from Shkodër at 8:00. The fare is 10 euros. Advance reservations are required for the minivan, so please ask your hotel to make a reservation the day before. After that, we spend one night in Tes village. Hotels start from about 40 euros per night. Reservations fill up quickly, so make sure to make a reservation early. The owners of each hotel are famous for their traditional Albanian home-cooked meals made with locally produced ingredients, so be sure to order them. The next morning, we start hiking to the Cursed Mountain. It takes about 8 hours of trekking to cross the Cursed Mountain and reach Valbona village. There are springs along the way, so bring only a water bottle. Once you arrive at Valbona village, spend the night in a hotel. Hotels start from 10 euros per night. The hotel will arrange a minivan from the hotel to Lake Komani, so make a reservation the day before. The fare is 10 euros. The ferry ride on Lake Komanj takes about 2 hours. The fare is 10 euros. The scenery is amazing! After that, it takes about 1 hour by minivan from the ferry drop-off point to Shkodër. The fare is 10 euros. This is the whole trip. I recommend Quku i Valbonës, a hotel in the village of Valbona. You can stay here from 10 euros per night. It is surrounded by 360° mountain views, and it is especially beautiful at sunset and in the early morning when the mountainside turns orange and gradually gets darker. There is a river nearby, which is cold with meltwater from the Alps, but it is extremely clear. Trekking from the summit of the Cursed Mountain to Valbona Village. It's a continuous descent and takes about 4 hours. The scenery on the descent to Valbona Village is overwhelmingly more beautiful than the ascent from Theth Village to the Cursed Mountain. When you arrive in Valbona Village, there are several hotels available, with cheap hostels starting from 10 euros. However, reservations fill up quickly, so it's best to book as early as possible.
