Kek Lok Si Temple | Penang, Malaysia

Kek Lok Si, also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, is said to be the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia and one of the famous temples in Penang, located at Air Itam. Originally, it was believed that the hill in this area (named "He Shan" or Crane Hill) had good feng shui, making it suitable for building a temple. However, the true reason for the temple's great popularity is that Taoist monks and Buddhist monks study and practice their teachings here. The most prominent feature of this temple is the Pagoda of Rama VI (Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas), which was completed in 1930. The pagoda is adorned with 10,000 bronze and alabaster Buddha statues, symbolizing the unity between the Mahayana and Theravada sects. The design of the pagoda is a blend of a Chinese-style base, a Thai-style body, and a Burmese-style top. You can climb the rather steep stairs to the top of the pagoda to enjoy a panoramic view of Penang. #malaysiatrip #penang #kekloksi
