THE BOOTLEG SHOW

If distortion is not just a mistake, but the beginning of beauty, would we still consider the ‘original’ important? “THE BOOTLEG SHOW”, an exhibition that invites us to explore the thin line between the original and distortion, in the distorted universe of MRKREME (Worakan Chongthanapipat) “What is the original?” This simple question leads MRKREME to explore the ambiguity of the original, especially in the world of character design, where, when entering the actual production process, the deviation from the draft to the real thing becomes an inspiration for new questions about authenticity and fakeness. His BOOTLEG universe is therefore not just a parody of the original, but a celebration of the “imperfection” and “distortion” that are the essence of boundless creativity. In this exhibition, MRKREME reuses clay, the basic material used to sculpt the original characters, as the main medium once again to show the fluidity and impermanence of creativity, with a variety of works, such as colorful paintings that are intentionally arranged in chaos, large-scale sculptures by Mushkin that are both cute and funny at the same time, and paintings from the viewer’s memories. That becomes a new interpretation and opens up space for the audience to participate in the creation process. THE BOOTLEG SHOW shows us that mistakes that should be the end become the beginning of new creations without boundaries. Art is not just about controlling it to be in the form we want, but about accepting the unexpected and appreciating the distortions that occur along the way. We will leave the exhibition space with new questions about originality, perfection, and the endlessly expanding boundaries of creativity. 📍 Venue: Rotating Exhibition Rooms 1, 2 and 3, G Floor, MOCA Museum of Contemporary Art 🗓 On display until June 29, 2025 at ⏰️ Open every Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Closed every Monday) 💵 There is an admission fee. 🚘 There is private parking. 🚍 Public transportation: Red Line Bang Khen Station #thebootlegshow #mrkreme #booX #mocabangkok #InsomniaScene #Get a discount without relying on luck
