Playing in Beijing｜798 Art District

A well-known art district in Beijing. The place is super large. It's my first time here, and I only walked a small part of it. It feels very nice. I specially checked its historical background. 798 Art District (798 ArtDist) is located at No. 2 Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing. It is a cultural and creative industry cluster in Beijing. 798 originally was a key industrial project called the 718 Joint Factory, which was aided by the Soviet Union and designed and built by East Germany, with a total area of 1.1 million square meters. It was planned in 1952 and split into multiple factories in April 1964, with Factory 798 being one of them. Since 2002, due to low rents, many artist studios and contemporary art institutions began to gather in 798, gradually forming an art community. The playability and visibility here are relatively high. There are many small and beautiful shops, each with its own characteristics. There are many free exhibition halls, each with its own sentiment. There are many small activities, all eye-catching. According to incomplete statistics, the 798 Art District gathers more than 400 cultural institutions, including galleries, design studios, art exhibition spaces, artist studios, fashion shops, restaurants and bars, as well as animation, film and television media, publishing, design consulting, and other cultural institutions. It is a place worth strolling around. The overall feeling is, oh, not bad.
