It was built between 1603 and 1609 and was once the secondary residence of the Prince-Bishop of Paderborn. The castle has three round towers connected by thick walls to form a unique triangular plane. The castle is located high above the Alme Valley, overlooking the beautiful scenery. The castle has a rich history and was later rebuilt and transformed. Between 1933 and 1945, the castle was used by the SS of Nazi Germany, and plans were made to expand it into a mysterious ritual site. Today, the castle is a museum and youth hostel, presenting the history of the Prince-Bishops of Paderborn and the memory of the Nazi period. I went to Wewelsburg last year and was deeply shocked. The castle has beautiful architectural style, and the interior decorations and exhibits are also exquisite. I visited the History Museum, learned about the culture of Paderborn, and saw some ancient artworks and weapons. I also visited the Memorial Museum, felt the terror and atrocities during the Nazi period, and saw some SS badges and uniforms. I think this castle is a good place for education, allowing people to know the truth of history and remind people to cherish peace and freedom. I highly recommend everyone to travel to Wewelsburg and experience the charm and stories of this castle. I hope to visit it again in 2024.
