Palace of Prince Taz - Glorious Mamluk Homes!

Address: At the intersection of Saliba Street and Suyufiyya Street, and forms the main entrance to Medieval Cairo. The palace was built in the 14th century by the Mamluk Prince “Saif Eddin Taz”. He had very strong connections with the Sultan at that time, as he was his son in law, his drink servant, and a strong politician. The palace originally extended over 8,000 square meters. The location had a very important significance being close to the castle -the center of power. Is considered one of the finest and most beautiful examples of Bahari Mamluk palace architecture. It is also the largest in area. Its most important characteristic is the maq’ad or the seat which overlooking the large inner courtyard and its beautifully decorated halls.
