Bantayan Island Escapade

There are so many awesome things to do in Bantayan Island Cebu including white sand beaches, saltwater lagoons, mangrove boardwalks, cave pools, old ruins, skydiving, and island hopping, to name a few and I am so happy to get to spent three (3) days to discover some of the best tourist spots and to get a taste of the slow-paced island life in North Cebu. Here are the 5 places we visited in Bantayan Island. 1. Take a Dip at Ogtong Cave A unique resort built around a natural cave filled with fresh water, Ogtong Cave Resort is a popular spot for cooling off and short dip. While the cave is not that big for a full swimming session, its clear, bluish, and refreshingly cool waters are perfect for a short dip 2. Enjoy the Picturesque Sandbar at Kota Beach This beach is famous for two things: first, its beautiful sandbar; second, it is the location of a Filipino romantic-comedy movie titled Camp Sawi. The views here are surreal, especially during sunset and sunrise. 3. The Ruins in Bantayan Island It's literally just ruins but its fun taking pictures and you can actually go there for a swim FOR FREE. If it’s high tide, you can go in for a jump and do all that cool parkour-cliff-diving moves. This abandoned building was once a luxurious resort that was destroyed by a typhoon in the 1980s, leaving only its magnificent ruins as a reminder of its past grandeur. 4. Obo-ob Mangrove Eco Park The Obo-ob Mangrove Eco Park, also called the Omagieca Mangrove Garden, offers a different experience from the island’s beaches and is a must-visit attraction. This site is famous for being the filming location for the Filipino comedy-drama Camp Sawi. The lush mangroves can be explored through a bamboo boardwalk that leads to the sea or by renting a kayak on site. For those who want to grab a bite, a community-run restaurant is conveniently located by the entrance. 5. St. Peter and Paul Church Another historic church on the island, St. Peter and Paul Church, is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings. Apart from its superb, white sand beaches, Bantayan Island is also home to centuries-old churches and fishing villages. Bantayan Island is often just a part of many tours in Cebu but today, I hope my experience will give you more reasons to stay in Bantayan longer.
