Affordable Chiang Dao accommodations with million-dollar views

If you're visiting Chiang Mai, you can't miss the chance to stay on a mountain. This trip, we chose to stay at Ban Hug Huan Suk, located in Ban Na Lao Mai, Chiang Dao. The accommodation offers both houses and tents. We booked a tent, priced at 9xx baht per person including breakfast. However, we opted out of breakfast, so we paid 600 baht per person. The tent accommodates two people and has shared bathrooms. Inside the tent, they provide mattresses, pillows, and blankets for two people. We visited in late November when the weather was pleasantly cool, making for a very comfortable sleep. We arrived at the accommodation around 4 PM, giving us time to explore the nearby village and enjoy the views. The village is deeply connected to nature, with the majestic Doi Luang Chiang Dao standing tall in the background—absolutely stunning. Our accommodation offered a clear view of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. Opening the tent, we were greeted with the breathtaking mountain view. It was incredibly refreshing and relaxing. I spent some quiet time alone, just gazing at the scenery, feeling a profound sense of peace. On the day we visited, there was even a rainbow, adding to the beauty—it was so mesmerizing that I couldn't take my eyes off it. At night, we sat together, chatting and stargazing. The sky was clear, allowing us to see the stars and the Milky Way vividly. The atmosphere felt perfect. The nighttime air was chilly, so wearing an extra layer was necessary to stay warm. In the morning, we woke up early to catch the sunrise. Before the sun rose, the sky turned shades of purple and red, with mist covering the mountains—it was breathtakingly beautiful, making all the effort worthwhile. This was our second time staying here. The first time, we rented a car and drove ourselves. This time, we decided to try public transportation. We took a bus from Chang Phueak Bus Terminal, the Chiang Mai-Tha Ton route, and got off at Chiang Dao Bus Terminal. From there, we hired Aunt Boon's songthaew to take us to the accommodation. Choosing this method turned out to be a good decision because the road up the mountain had some collapsed sections, making it quite nerve-wracking. You can book the accommodation through the Ban Hug Huan Suk Facebook page. For those traveling by bus, you can contact Aunt Boon to pick you up at Chiang Dao Bus Terminal. She's very kind, and the round-trip service costs 300 baht per person. You can arrange the pick-up and drop-off times with her directly at 098-783-7217 (make sure to inform her at least one day in advance).
