Animals and Theme Parks

Day1:Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary / Honey Day2: Movie World Day3: Harbourtown Premium Outlet Day4: Dream World / Beach Market @ Surfers Paradise We spent 5 days in Gold Coast. Weather was cool, not exactly cold. The apartment we booked gave us 2 different views with windows on both sides (Ocean and Marina). It was huge and convenient located. There is a Woolworths at level 1. We didn’t even need a shopping list. All it took was a lift ride down to get anything we needed at last minute. Day 1 The last time we visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary was in 2014. It’s been 9 years and it seems like there are now many new additions to the sanctuary. What remains the same as before, is their commitment to wildlife conservation. There is a hospital there for animals injured on the road. We had the honour of briefly watching the vets treating a koala through a crowd. Feeding the kangaroos was a highlight where we get up close and personal with these marsupials. They are very accustomed to being near human and were really chill even with little children. Day 2 Next day was Movie World. Many rides were closed but the ones that remained open were worth the wait. The park didn’t disappoint. Every corner was photo worthy. There are shows and rides for all ages. Day 3 Shopping was good at Harbourtown Premium Outlet. We visited a DFO at Melbourne but were sorely disappointed there because there weren’t actual deals (prices were marked up only to be discounted for show). Harbourtown was different. There were actual deals and we ended up getting more than what we planned to get. Day 4 Dreamworld was a bit of a disappointment though. Or rather, Dreamworld was very disappointing. On their website, we noted that there were many max-level thrilling rides and planned out our route. Some rides were scheduled for maintenance so we left those out. Turned out to be that either many rides were not ready while we were in line or they had a notice board informing that the ride was not available. Lines weren’t long but wait time was ridiculous. The park opens 10:30am - 4pm. There weren’t many food places opened. The one that e we ate at, we waited almost an hour (it was NOT even crowded by the way). We spent the short park hours in Dreamworld waiting for everything (not because of crowd but really because of slow service, park-wide)
