The first Seoul Museum of Photography opens today The Seoul Museum of Photography, newly opened in Chang-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, is the first public art museum specializing in photography in Korea. It opened on May 29, 2025 after a 10-year preparation period. As a branch of the Seoul Museum of Art, it aims to convey the artistic value of photography to citizens through exhibitions and programs that encompass the history and present of photography art. The space from the 2nd basement floor to the 4th floor above ground consists of various photography-related facilities. The basement has a film storage facility that maintains 0C, providing an environment optimized for film preservation. The lobby on the 1st floor has a high ceiling of 10m, giving it an open feel, and the 2nd and 3rd floors have exhibition rooms and video halls, where you can enjoy various exhibitions ranging from experimental works by contemporary artists to flat photography works. The 4th floor has a photo library, training room, and darkroom, where you can read photography-related books and participate in educational programs. To commemorate the opening, a special exhibition titled 'A Glittering View' is being held. The first exhibition, 'Storage Story', consists of works that reinterpret the process of establishing the museum from the perspective of contemporary artists, and the second exhibition, 'Brilliance: Moments of Beginning', explores the historical origins of Korean art photography through representative works of Korean photography masters. _Seoul Museum of Photography _68 Madeul-ro 13-gil, Dobong-gu, Seoul _10:00~20:00 (until 19:00 on weekends / closed on Mondays)
