Alberta Legislature Building: An iconic building in Edmonton, a must-visit!

(In the 1763rd original travel photo post published in 1015 cities across 57 countries/regions on 5 continents) The Alberta Legislature Building was built in 1907, originally on the site of the old Edmonton Fort. The central hall fountain was built to commemorate the first official visit of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (who is also the head of state of Canada). A statue of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, after whom the province is named, stands on the northwest side of the hall. The legislature building is situated on a green lawn, surrounded by towering cypress trees. The building has five floors, and the brown-yellow carved stone columns give it a sense of age. The main building has a round tower, and the arched roof is topped with the Canadian flag. The building is now listed as a well-known local attraction, and visitors can enter the building for a tour by appointment. Unfortunately, we were short on time and couldn't go inside.
