Steppe to Ice

#cityplaybook Start from El Calafate’s town center and walk along the lake toward Bahía Redonda, a peaceful bay filled with birds. Continue on to Laguna Nimez Reserve, where you can walk the full loop through marshland, viewing flamingos, black-necked swans, and other Patagonian birds. Extend the walk by continuing along the lakeshore paths or looping through the Reserva Natural Urbana Laguna Ortíz. This semi-urban route combines nature with town charm. Total: 12–16 km depending on your detours.
